A good reputation can be a hinderance when others have a problem and don't feel they can come talk to you because they feel you would not understand them or where they are coming from.

This is especially a problem if one is in a leadership position and it is their subordinates that don't feel they can go to their superior about personal issues affecting their lives.

You sure do ask some interesting questions. The only time I can think that a good reputation would be a hindrance is when you want to do something wrong, and nobody will let you because of your sterling reputation. Or perhaps you can't let yourself do it. Honestly... I can't see HOW a good reputation would be a hindrance.

Everything can be a hindrance if it is leaned upon and used as a crutch. A good reputation is no different, if leaned upon, one will stop doing the things that brought about the good reputation to begin with.

Also - with the questions you seem to be asking all over the board, this one could bring about issues of ego, pride and other negatives that could lead one to not live from their heart but from their head.

What people think of you is your reputation. I would say sometimes it can be a bigger job to maintain a good reputation, but it's not really a hindrance. Who doesn't want to have a good reputation? However, our reputations are sometimes different than who we really are. That's called character. I'd rather have good character, and not worry so much about what people think of me.

When your reputation is stellar, people may expect the world of you, which can be a burden at times....

A single questionable act could blow it. If you have no reputation it is expected and therefore not noticed as much.

Some people may unfairly hold it against you because they don't have such a good reputation.

Hinderance to what?

Maybe getting invited to a hazing at a frat house or a punker birthday party.

YOU MAY FIND AN ANSWER HERE IN BIBLICAL TERMS

In 2 Timothy read the following and see if you see yourself there.

Chapter 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

THERE IS HOPE FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING YOU

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10
