It sounds like those guys are starving for some variety… literally!
Avocadoes, onions and chocolate are toxic to a bird, avoid them. Also avoid anything with caffeine and a lot of sugar and salt. Peanuts also have a high fat content so avoid using them regularly; as a treat now and then is fine. Just about any other type of vegetable is fair game. They love carrot greens, and most other leafy green vegetables.
I can give a list of the things we feed them here.
Fresh veggies/fruit:
Grapes
Oranges
Bell peppers
Apples
Pears
Bananas
Carrots
Jalapeno peppers
Just about any fruit or veggie available at the store
A cooked mixture of:
Beans
Rice
Pasta
Garlic
Lentils
I’ve had birds tame enough that I let sit on the edge of my plate and share dinner with me (providing it’s safe to eat). So common foods we eat can also be used as a treat for them.

if you do not know much about them how do you know they are thin....the way you tell if one is under weight is feeling the brest bone and if it is nice and "meaty" (bearly can feel the bone) they are normal weight if the bone is real noticable then they are thin and if you can not feel it at all they are over weight ....the best thing to feed is a pellet food but few paraketes will eat them...you can give them supplements in their water and mix the pellets in the food also get a fortified diet not the cheep stuff

I have a parakeet and a cockatiel, they both eat TONS of fresh fruits and vegetables. They LOVE trail mix, crackers, and cereal (low sugar) too. Maybe your bird would fatten up with some of this. Just stay away from avacados, they are poisonous to birds!

They might have anorexia? It's possible for bird to have anorexia, of course. Try switching their diets to more fatty, but healthy foods. I'd suggest buying some pellets and adding more of a variety. If they continue to be very skinny, consult your nearest Avian Vet. Also, there are many Yahoo! Groups that deal with birds. One I'd suggest is http://pets. groups.yahoo. com/group/ FeedingFeathers/

Bird get unhealthy when you just feed them seeds.Try giving them a verity of vegetables and fruits. It gives them all the vitamins and minerals and also fatens them too. Here's a tip my birds love Apples, tomato's,bread, lettuce, and broccoli..........
Just make sure you don't give them to much fruit and stuff around the weed other wise they won't want to eat their seeds.and they'd get sick. THIS WILL WORK MOST LIKELY!

you can get treats at a pet store. that might work, or you can get them a better brand of food that helps them put some meat on their bones.
