Adopt from china or somewhere else where else where you'll still get a real adoption from. Sadly adopting North American babies is just becoming temporary custody and all too often heartbreak. GL whichever your choice -- just be realistic about what the future _could_ hold.

Tell your lawyer that you are seeking to adopt a child, and would consider a private adoption. Lawyers often handle adoptions that bypass the agencies for one reason or another. They might ask you to pay for the birth mother's prenatal care, if she cannot afford it herself.

If you are willing to adopt a slightly older child, the process can be greatly shortened. Yes, you might miss the midnight feedings, but you will raise the child.

Have you ever considered a child with special needs? Think carefully about what special needs you could cope with. Some children have physical or mental disabilities, mixed cultural heritage, some are legally at risk. Adoptive parents are so hard to find for these children that placements are quite rapid.

We adopted a baby boy from the Cradle in Evanston, Illinois, 23 years ago. He had no ears, and it was not known how serious a hearing disability he might have, or how well he would learn to talk. He has been wearing a bone-conduction hearing aid since he was an infant, and his diction is flawless. He recently upgraded to a titanium implant hearing aid. He is at college now, studying to be a teacher.

I have no information for you, but God bless you for being willing to open up your hearts and your home to a child who may have no one to love him were it not for you. Good luck to you and your spouse.
To St. Helena Woman: first of all, how do you even know the circumstances? It's quite possible this couple has tried to have a baby and are unable to conceive. Or that the woman has suffered multiple miscarriages. Or that there are genetic disorders in the family that would make conception a very risky venture. Or that the woman has a medical condition that precludes a pregnancy. Perhaps they have decided that, while more difficult, it is more rewarding to parent a child who would otherwise not have a comfortable life. Perhaps the couple knows adoptive parents/children, and really likes the dynamics they see in those individuals/families. Your response was extremely rude and uncalled for.

It is much easier to have a baby on your own. I suggest you get pregnant. It isn't that hard to do. Make love, get pregnant. That simple.
