What fighter jets do you think are the coolest?

My list includes:
The F-14 Tomcat
F-16 Fighting Falcon
F-4 Phantom
F-105 Thunderchief(the THUD)
F-100 Super Sabre(The HUN)
MiG-29 Fulcrum
F-86 Sabre(the original Sabre flown in Korea)
Panavia Tornado(ADV and IDS)
F/A-18 Hornet
F-22 Raptor
F-117 Nighthawk
and a jet that was originally supposed to be a fighter but is used for bombing/ground attack..
the F-111 Aardvark

Oops, I forgot the Harrier V/STOL 'Jump Jet'!

to the person who said I did not mention any foreign fighters, I mentioned the MiG-29, Tornado, and Harrier(I know the RAF had Harriers before the US Marines did!),
and oops, I forgot to mention one of the first ever jet fighters...The Messerschmidt Me-262!, also consider that many foreign air forces fly American-made fighter jets and military aircraft, some of those dating back to the Vietnam War.

The F-14 tops my list next would be F-104 star fighter,Su-27,F-18,F-22,F-35,RAFALE,MIRAGE 2000,SEA VIXEN, PANTHER,BANSHEE, I do like alot of the planes on your list I was surprised you didn't have the star fighter though. A girl who loves fighter planes I think I'm In love!!!

The FH-22 raptor is the coolest fighter jet. It currently come with a very hefty price tag, but it is well worth it. Because of it America will dominate the skies for the next 50 years. It combines the fighting capability of the F-14 and F-16 with the stealth of the F-117 and the B-2. The F-22 is truly an amazing aircraft and will not be matched for a while.

Wow what a great list! I would include the DH Vampire, the Glouster Javelin,FJ-1 Fury. The F-111 WAS designed as a multi-service FIGHTER, but it did not work. the Douglas Sky- Ray, F9F Panther, AND..... The LAST GUNFIGHTER, the Vought F-8 Crusader!!! If your out of Crusaders, you are out of Fighters! the Best gunfighter jet ever. But your list is excellent.

Hands Down - the Phantom F-4. It served with the USAF, USN, Marines, and BOTH demonstrations teams of Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. Not to mention it was used by many, many other 'allied' Countries. The 'work horse' of Vietnam through Desert Storm. It's only fault, was not being originally equiped with a gun.

Spotting a wee bit of american bias in that list ;-)

Classic example of "if it looks right ....", the Hawker Hunter (and it's cousin, the Seahawk); best example of gallic flair, well pick whichever Mirage you want, or maybe even the Rafale. Proof that you can design something good by committee (eventually!), Eurofighter Typhoon.

And as much as I hate to ignore all those wonderful twin boom designs from De Havilland, the coolest fighter ever HAS to be the EE Lightning.

Uh.......Just a real quick correction, the only bomber with a fighter designation is the Nighthawk, the Aardvark was used in dogfights.

But, to put them into a list, that's hard.Though you didn't list the Eagle in there. How could you forget the EAGLE!! My list starts off with the Raptor, then Eagles, Falcons, Fulcrum, F-18E/F Super Hornet, F-16C(THUNDERBIRDS). Then it continues on, oh, let's not forget the USMC Harriers.

I like the F-16 because I have worked on so many of them. I believe the Block 40 C/D's are the best looking of the bunch. But the new Block 60's are the best all around. I also like the F-86 because it has history and it's lines. It just looks right! They both do.

The F-86 was very cool, especially the Canadian ones with the more powerful Orenda engines. I also like the F 104, it just looks so fast!

The F-111 was the successor for the Thud and also served as the Wild Weasel replacement.
