Hi, Jodie. It's nice to see someone who realizes that not all relationships have to be sexual right away. Take your time, there's plenty of time before you need to explore that part of a relationship.
Now the bad part - there's no good way to "make' someone like you, whether they're quiet, boisterous, or anywhere in between. Your best bet is to just be yourself, and see what develops.
Now the good part - in relationships, it's often the case that "opposites attract". So if you're spontaneous and outgoing, you might really hit it off with a quiet guy. So just be Jodie, go out with Denny a few times, and see what happens. What's the worst that can happen - you have a few dates that you enjoyed, but no sparks flew?

You should just make him feel special. Maybe you could complement him and tell him how you like that he stands out from other guys because he doesn't need to please you with a big mouth. You could also try poking him. Poke him in the gut to start. Guys usually like that. If he starts poking back, it's a good sign. Also, I think after homecoming you should try to have a good conversation with him so that he can open up with you. Maybe then he will like you better.

Girl, now you seem like a person that seems nice..
If you asked a boy you really like as a boyfriend to one of the most life-changing things in school.. then You might have it made.. but when homecoming comes around.. try to see if he likes you like you like him.. ( if you get what I mean ).. Sorry to tell a guys secret, but if he slow dances with you, without pressure or being told to.. then he is into you.. but you have to see what comes out of the whole deal..

It can never hurt to flirt. Talk to him; see if you can make him laugh. Just because he's quiet doesn't mean he won't be attracted to spontaneity. You said yourself that he isn't shy. Flirting is always your best bet. If he likes you, he'll be most likely to ask you out if he's confident that you like him too... so show him that you do. Good luck!

um, at homecomming, do all the SLOW dances, and try and kiss him
if he accepts it, then u know he wants to go out wit u, and ask him out
if he kinda resists, then u know he is either REALLY shy or doesn't seem to interested in a relationship right now
GOOD LUCK!!!

Actually, you can't really make someone like you. They have to make that decision on their own. All you can do is be yourself and hope that he'll like you.
It takes time for someone to "fall in like" with someone else. So be patient.

He has responded to you, so just keep being yourself. You must be doing something right. No need to rush it, let your relationship mature with friendship first.
