Can anyone tell me about side effects you experienced while taking Wellbutrin? I am having several problems and I would like to know if all of it has to do with the Wellbutrin and will they stop eventually? I have been taking it for about 3 weeks. Any opinions or information will help greatly. Thanks!!

This is what the book says: "The most common side effects with WELLBUTRIN are weight loss, loss of appetite, dry mouth, skin rash, sweating, ringing in the ears, shakiness, stomach pain, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, trouble sleeping, muscle pain, nausea, fast heartbeat, sore throat, and urinating more often."

The truth is that it depends on how the person reacts. At the beginning, Wellbutrin seemed the perfect antidepressant for me. Then I started to get very anxious and to have trouble sleeping. It took me out of a VERY deep depression though, so doctor just reduced the dosage. As the time passed by, some other side effect started to become present: sexual difficulties and urine retention. I was feeling much better by then and doctor switched me to another medication.

What we said is helpful... you will know you are not alone, but the most important thing is that you and your doctor work things out.

Unfortunately, with anti-depressives, to find the right doses of the right one you have to go through a trial and error process

Give wellbutrin a chance, 3 weeks is too soon to tell. What if it takes you out of depression? How important those side effects are? This is only temporary, right?

Think on quiting only if the side effect you are experiencing are not tolerable

Wellbutrin is an antidepressant which is also helpfu in quitting smoking. I have had no side effects from taking it for about 3 years. I understand that side effects with it are usually temporary. It is one of the few that seems to have no sexual side effects, like most of the others. Most antidepressants work by increasing the efficiency of seratonin, which is a chemical that enables the "firing" of nerve impulses between nerve endings. Wellbutrin works instead with other nerve receptor chemicals in the body. As far as taking it in the morning or evening, since the XL formula came out, I was told always to take it in the morning. However, when I forget, I take it in the evening w/o loss of sleep.

Hope I have been helpful. Good Luck

your body has to get use to the wellbutrin in your body, until it does it is a foreign object that usually takes 4-6 weeks to get used to. Don't stop it or the side effects will worsen - wellbutrin is a good anti-depressant

when i was on wellbutrin, i didn't have that many side-effects. i do remember that i had tension head aches and dizziness. i also couldn't sleep ! for some reason it was so hard to go to Zzz with this stuff. so, i told my dr. and he told me to take it in the morning instead. which helped. those were my side-effects.

Try crazymeds.com and network54.com /forum. They are both great anti-depressant web sites. Antidepressants have a lot of side effects and are not that effect for most people. learn as much as you can about them. Good luck.

Three weeks is not very long, give it some more time. If it is the meds doing it, they will even out with some more time.

difficulty sleeping & anxious. this med is for depression & to help stop smoking. u need to take early am. this med is more of a stimulant med. s/e's usually disappears in 2-4wks. give it a chance & if s/e's still untolerable, tell md, so he can adjust dosage or change med.
