I think its weird that Iceland is green and not ice. Ad that Greenland is ice and not green.

eric the red and his son leif ericson named them they wanted people to move there so they named it greenland amd iceland they wanted peopelt o stay away so they could have it for themselves

one theory I heard was that it was deliberate - so anyone looking to steal the islands would go after Greenland, and leave Iceland alone.

caus the person who descovered these places wanted iceland all for them selve so to push others away he named it the wrong way

I hadn't noticed.
I think those other answers must be right.
But with their theory I think we should name our country "welcome" and maybe everyone trying to steal our land will go away.
