Unfortunately,,..
I suffer from bi-polar too. The mood swings are unreal. One minute I'm happy, laughing and couldn't care less what stresses I have in my life to crying or stressing about stupid things. When I am really manic it's like someone shot me up with adrenaline, I get hyper, talk all the time and have uncontrolled obsessions. They range by mood. Notebooks, markers, paint, little McDonald's toys. It varies. I am taking Lamictal now and it seems to be working so far.

i take serequil for the mood swings, along with other meds, its taking awhile but im on meds that are working good now, i am on my third day of being up, manic. the moods swings and depression are coming, but i know this. drinking will not help mood swings at all, it makes them much worse. respredol is good also for drastic mood swings. mine used to be very very drastic. almost lost everything. it gets better, talk to phsy dr. honestly. good luck.

My sister has been suffering with this for over 5 years. It has taken a long time to get her meds adjusted for the mood swings.

I'm pretty sure I have bipolar but I never got it diagnosed. And yes, it is hard dealing with the mood swings, especially if the people around you aren't aware that you have this condition.

i have had alot of experiences w/ this disorder. 1 day ur really happy for awhile, then really depressed. a therapist, a good understanding family or friends along w/ meds will help alot. just need 2 get the right one or combination from md & tell md everthing u feel r/t med side effects, effectiveness, other feelings so md can adjust dosage or change meds, but being honest w/ md & taking meds as prescribed along w/ talking will help alot.

Yes, I do have bipolar disorder with mainly manic moods....only about 3 depressed moods a years that generally last a couple of weeks.....remember everyone reacts differently to different meds...have been on medication for 20+ years......Now I take trileptal for mood stablelizer, klonipin for anxiety and to sleep and I take 100 mg. of Seroquel at night to sleep. I spent many years on lithium and depakote......be patient and trust you psychiatrist...if not, find one who you do...I have never changed mine...

you mean manic depression aka bipolar disorder? have you been diagnosed with this? meds are usually used to stabilize mood. it all depends on severity to the extent of how "stable" you can feel.

Yes, I'm another Bipolar... If you aren't taking anything, or officially diagnosed, get to a psychiatrist as soon as you can. The meds available will control it and give you your life back.
