He is not doing a good thing, because Carfax is about 25 dollar for a month, with UNLIMITED number of carfax you can make( I bought a car for my wife last month and we had it).
One of our friends bought an used Escort and the dealerdid the carfax right there when he was trying to sell the car. In fact, our last car, they gave us carfax and another record what it is only used by professionals.
All good dealers offers you the carfax, right when you are interested in a car. You need to know the information.
Ford Escape is a good car, but you need to get a carfax. In www.autotrader.com and other websites some sellers even give the carfax for free in the internet ad.
Look for another car in www.autotrader.com, and good luck.

Well The original price of the escape is not bad. What makes the price bad is the interest that you have to pay because of what has happened to your credit. A salesperson should always pull carfax for you if you ask for it. It does cost but if you ask then you should receive it. If you ever want to trust a salesperson again ask friends and family for someone that they have gone to. They might be very happy with the person that they bought from. The fact that you don't have the best of credit does not give you many choices. I suggest that you suck it up and go for what you can right now. Stick with it for a year then trade in the vehicle. If you have kept up to date on your payments your score should have gone up a lot. I wish that I could help you more. My comp. has some really really good programs to get your credit back on the right path. Good luck and keep the payments up.

Unless you know someone (or two or three) who have dealt with the salesman, trust your instincts. Smart move not to be pressured into buying before knowing!!! There are too many used vehicles around to be suckered into a bad deal.

So the fact that you were paying DOUBLE for the car (check http://www.autotrader.com, same cars go for $6500) didn't bother you at all... but that he wouldn't pull a free Carfax was the deal breaker? You really are hopeless.

The buyer should always beware. You should be a woman buying a car. It's like they see you coming! ooops maybe you are. Your avatar is so generic!
