Why do women always go on about how men should treat a women like a women? i.e open car doors, move the seat out for her, pay for them going out, make the first move etc..

Yet those same women don't want to do what the same sterotype says women should i.e cook, clean etc..

I think it's only fair if women want treated like women then men should be treated like men.

kelly m, no the act itself is called chivalry but because some people say that's what a good man does it's then becomes a stereotype.

Unfortunately, the few have ruined it for the rest of us. Society would have us belief that there is no difference between men and women, but that simply not true. I am not saying that I want to see the day when women HAD to stay home and raise the kids and not work, but I would like to see some of the things you mentioned returned. But....let's be honest that is not going to happen. As for how women should be treated, you should take as a case by case basis. I love it when my guy opens the door, makes the first move, all that jazz, but I also want him to be OK for me to pay every once in a while...just so I don't come off as "lazy".

Maybe it was passed down through the ages, like in the renaissance times.. chivalry was something knights would do..to respect woman.. we do treat men fairly it's just that girls are moody and PMSes and women were created like that so you have no choice but to respect that. Oh and lastly, you probably hang with the wrong women.

its only being polite to open a door for a woman and pay when you take her on dates-chivalry. most women are not opposed to cooking and cleaning, they just think men should help out. its because in the 1950s and stuff women were only thought capable of taking care of domestic chores, which women today find offensive. besides, you wouldnt want a woman pulling out your chair for you, would you? i didnt think so, its just one of those things guys do for girls. not a stereotype at all.

Hold up!!! All women are not on the stereotype bullshyt. B/C i know i'm not. But some women really don't want all that; they just like to run off at the mouth. You see some women might want it at first, but after a while they will see that it gets boring and played out. Ya feel me.

Big difference between treating a woman like a "lady" and expecting a woman to be like your mama. (If I understand what you are saying). I mean, if a man treats her with the respect men used to have for ladies, she will WANT to do domestic things to please HIM in return. If on the other hand, a man expects his woman to work 40+hrs, come home, cook, clean, do laundry, and pop the top on his beer before she goes & slips into a sexy nightie for his pleasure, THAT'S a man that's lookin' for a mommy with fringe benefits! I think we should treat each other like WE want to be treated, that would solve the dilemma.
PS> I open doors for MEN as well as expecting them to hold the door for me ;-)

This sounds a little whiny. Men have lost everything about themselves thats manly if they are reduced to petty bitching about roles.
Times change. Not all women care about opening doors. Its just a nice gesture, its not like the women are asking you to create and name a rose after them.
Some women do like to cook but I have met so many men that like and prefer to cook.

Hey, not all of us do. I like women and men to be treated equally, and I can't stand the thought of letting a guy do the things you mentioned above for me. But you're right, that is a bit hypocritical.

I agree, but a man should open the door for a women, and respect her just as much as a women should do the man. Women should cook and clean...etc, but a man should be there to help his baby, just as she should watch his back. its all about love and wanting to be happy with eachother. Aim for faithfullness, honesty, love,a nd happiness, but most of all God!

ok first off your right women should treat men like men like men .. and in answer to your Q i think the reason most women want to have doors open for them and stupid **** like that is cause they want to feel special loved cared about or they just want to show off that they have a real man that would jump off a bridge for them... im only guessing at it for i don't like having doors opened for me or chairs pulled out ..
