If he was walking and has stopped, I would have his pediatrician double check his knees and ankles. My son had a weakness in one of his ankles at 13 months. He had been walking and then stopped would pull his legs up if I tried to stand him on his feet. The pediatrician had me get special shoes with supportive ankles for several months. By 15 months he was back up and moving right along. He's a grown man now with kids of his own. 6'7" tall. His oldest son had the same sort of trouble.

Our first born walked at 13 months, our second born at 9 months.

Did your son hurt himself while practicing, so that he might have been scared off? If he's cautious, that might have caused him to sit back and think about it some more. Does he still 'cruise' around, holding on to furniture to support himself?

He might also be having a growth spurt in another area and he put the walking on pause for a bit.

He's still within normal range. Probably he's been more of a thinker or socially engaged and hasn't wanted to work on walking until recently.

Did he have shots? they can cause pain in the leg muscles for a long time. My sister had to re-learn to walk after her 12 mo shots. Also if he just had a growth spurt he could be adjusting to his body all over again. Or maybe his language skills have really picked up in the past couple of months, kids usually concentrate on physical OR mental achievements, not both at the same time. Other then that, kids always throw you for a loop from time to time, 13 months is not late, he has a couple of months more to go before it would be concerning.

According to all the child development books, boys walk at a later age than girls do. If your son was walking 2 weeks ago, he can still walk. Maybe he isn't motivated to walk right now. Don't push him. He is fine. Most boys don't walk until after their first birthday.

My son is 17 months old and just now starting to walk. don't worry!!! I even asked the doctor about this because I was so worried. The more people I talk to, the more normal I find that it is. You know he knows how, because you've seen it, he's just choosing not to :)

my 2 older sons started walking at 12 months exactly and my 3rd son started walking at 15 months. Very normal. Dont worry about it.

Its very normal the average age is actually 13 months that a baby walks (range is 9-18 months) anything over that might be a problem. My daughter didnt start walking till 15months and she is now 3 and I cant calm her down lol.

Good Luck :-)

My first walked the week of his 1st birthday. My second, at 15mos. still isn't walking. His daddy didn't walk 'til 16mos - do maybe it's genetic! Either way, I'm in no hurry 'cause I already know I'll be running after him sometime very soon! Be thankful that you'll have a little more time with your 'baby' before he becomes a 'toddler'... one more thing, maybe he isn't walking 'cause he doesn't have to. Is his mommy helping him do everything? Lord knows I am one of those mommies!

one of my sons "sneak walked". I was concerned because he wasn't walking and discovered that he was walking when nobody was looking or he thought nobody was anyway. I don't know why he did that but it was actually kind of funny. He was about 13 or 14 months old when he "walked out of the closet" LOL!

do no longer stress! the certainty that she cruises around the coffee table ability that she is extremely close to to walking on her own. My daughter walked at 13 mos and 10 days after cruising for virtually 2 months. a pal's daughter walked at 15 months after cruising for 3-4 months! Our pediatrician pronounced 15-18 months is common. it is perplexing as mothers to no longer subject. i could desire to maintain telling myself that i'm no longer on top of issues! :o)
