Well I'd hate to speak for the people who use the term "freethinker" (I just refer to myself as an atheist), but I suppose it would have something to do with the fact that Christians are supposedly not allowed to question their religion, or think certain "impure thoughts," thus limiting their thought process in certain ways.

Well.....I guess most of the world is Christian (or some other relgion Jewish, Muslim, Hindu). The point being they believe in SOMETHING which has been the norm for centuries. So by not believing in anything you are defying the norms and so I guess that makes you a free thinker.

I truly hope that you are indeed a free thinker and not just championing a cause or following an under-dog. Be yourself always, you are the best friend you will ever have.

The atheists are not as free as they would like to make you think or they would not need to defend their ideas so vigorously or attack any one to be right.
Love and blessings Don
