Please don't add sugar to your baby's food. Babies haven't developed a "taste" for sugar, so why introduce it? Squash is yummy enough on it's own. I suggest baking it or steaming until it's tender then pureeing. If you need to thin it down, add a little carrot juice.

Poke 4 holes in the sides around the center, and put in microwave on top of paper towels. put a paper towel on top of squash and cook for 12 minutes. Using potholders, turn squash over and cook for another 6-12 minutes. You will be able to tell if it is cooked or not. remove and cut open, scoop out the center and scrape the squash from the skin. not using any water, you have a full bodied squash. This is the only way I cook mine, and once I get it scooped out, just add butter. no sugar needed.

I suggest that you cut it in half, take out the seeds and slimy stuff. Then bake it in a 325 oven until soft....maybe around 45 min depending on what kind of squash you have. You can place the halves of squash face down on a non-stick cookie sheet or even face up in a 13 x 9 pan with a little water around them to help them steam. After the squash is soft, let them cool until you can handle them enough to scoop out the meat (squash out of the skin).

You can then mash or use a food processor to blen it up as fine as you like...

Here's how I prepare butternut squash for pie filling (I like it better than pumpkin).

Buy it organic, or wash the outside. Chop into large pieces. Remove seeds and pith. Boil until tender enough to remove the skin easily (whoever said to peel first is a masochist!). Transfer to the oven and bake in a shallow pan with a little bit of the water, for the additional flavor. When tender enough to cut with a fork, transfer to a blender with the water. Puree. I then measure it out into 1 3/4 allotments, but you could do any size. I like the ice cube tray answer you got. I then freeze it until ready for use.

Bake squash in oven. When cool, scoop out and mash or blend (in blender) until smooth. Freeze individual cupfuls in plastic bags. Defrost (in the microwave). Add milk for desired consistency.
