I read that he died in June of 1631 and there wasn't any information as to what he died of. Back then, people died from influenza, scarlett fever, and other various diseases that are now treatable. It sounds like he died of old age.

Most probable cause was wear, tear, and harsh treatment of his body owing to his lifestyle, which was indeed extraordinary and full of adventures and misadventures.
