Not likely a tropical disease, but possibly more food born than anything. The rash means it's infectious and it is in the digestive region. Be careful and go see a physician. This all depends on how long he has the rash for and how long the gastroentritis lasted. Some food-borne illnesses present themselves more prone to people over here in American more than they do in Spain and in Europe. Enviornmental as well. Polluted water, air can cause irritation to the skin, dermatitis, and other disorders. Check his bowel, urine, diet, sleep, and activness, these are all key factors into more imprtant diseases. But i highly doubt any tropical diseaes at all. Most of the disease we have over here, Europe has given to us Good luck and Get back to me.

I doubt it would be tropical disease if he was in Spain - he might have got unlucky with the last meals he ate before he left or the plane food on the way back re the gastroenteritis & the rash could be unconnected - best thing is to ask a doctor or if he doesn't want to make an appointment call NHS direct (if you are in the UK) as they are very helpful http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/

yes, he could have caught an infection and it could be infectious. Check with his GP or ask NHS Direct instead of asking on here.

He might have done & it could be!
But on the other hand it may be nothing serious at all. Why not get him to visit the doctor - or go into your local chemist & ask the pharmacist for advice.
Hope he feels better soon.

If the rash comes and goes, it is probably allergic and not viral.
