I'm about 138, I was 240 about 1and a half yrs. ago. I stopped all soda and diet drinks. The diet drinks make you thirstier and loaded with sugar, sodium and the artificial sweetener gives me headaches. I eat breakfast every day. I don't always eat breakfast food for breakfast. It might be a piece of chicken or a protein drink from wal mart. I eat bananas, strawberries, both frozen. The bananas are frozen in a baggie in halves, at peak ripeness so they make great drinks with a little low fat milk and whatever , some protein drink. Using a litle tiny blender I got for about $10.
I eat small meals.I truly believe portions are the problem with most of us. I use a smaller plate, makes it look like more. Have to trick the brain. I eat only whole grain bread but not often. lean ham on a sandwich with pickles and a little mayo. I don't buy diet anything. I just change my habits and hopefully it will be for life. I tell myself every day that I have been blessed, I have food and a car and a house, why would I want to feel like this about myself. I talk to myself. No white flour unless your mom makes biscuits and gravy...once a month if I'm lucky. I have veggies washed, put in containers so I can get to them fast. I'm an impulse eater. So, if the veggies aren't ready I'll find junk to eat. I don't buy junk food because if it's in the house I will eat it eventually. So, out of the house works. I eat all day but it's not bad food. I snack on almond butter on that whole grain bread. Sometimes a little jelly without any sweetener on saltines or popcorn with salt and butter buds, in the spice area of the store. Pop it in a sm. paper bag add the butter buds and shake in salt, great and cheaper than microwave popcorn. Then apples dipped in that caramel for ice cream sundae stuff in a jar. Pretty good. So, don't be discouraged. It takes time to change. I always make myself wait 5 min. and ask myself Is this good for me? Do I really, really want or need to eat it? Will I regret it later? Can I eat something else? By then I"ve talked myself out of it. So, just always ask. Make good choices when you have to eat out. Ask if you can get the senior meal or the kids, or just get the salad and something small from side dishes to go with it. You don't have to eat that half a lb. of meat they sometimes give you these days when you pay for it...you could save the money and go on vacation if you just do that. So, go girl and get er done!!!I know you can. Also, no potatoes!!! I'm not able to do a lot of exercising because ai have a cervical spine problem where I am in pain all the time. I just stretch and rotate my legs at the hip and my arms at the shoulder then anything else that I can move that day. I do have stairs and I know that helps. So, you can loose weight without exercising so much. I just wat to keep moving and be here for a while longer. So do you.

My sister was over 300lbs and only 5 feet tall. She decided to go on a diet. Her diet was simply to eat anything she wanted, but in a small amount. If she wanted ice cream, she had a few spoonfuls, not a huge bowl, for pizza, one slice. She never felt deprived and believe it or not lost 100lbs in the first year and 30lbs in the last 4 months. She's in good health and going strong, happy with her diet and looking forward to getting the extra skin removed when she attains a steady and healthy weight.

As for m e, I'm over weight too, band am trying her diet, but haven't had the will power to really give it a go until a month ago. I find it difficult to exercise, and can come up with lots of excuses, but thankfully the dog needs to be walked every day and I'm taking him farther every day.

Keep trying, that's the key. My best wishes to you.
