I would pick SAMSUNG first, followed by LG.....and I would NOT pick Phillips.....The reason, Phillips went Dutch with their Tech Staff and IBM with their parts.....BOTH departments are WORTHLESS in trying to repair a Phillips TV....can't get parts, and can't get a Tech to authorize a swap when parts won't be in for 3-4 months.
LG is ok, but not very well supported
Samsung....WELL SUPPORTED, although their new website for parts really mucked up the part numbers....but that is fixed by their really great techs who get the right part number (out of 3 different part numbers listed)
A Samsung won't fail, but IF it does, you want it fixed yesterday and Samsung is the one that can and will do it!
Phillips just put the last nail in their coffin with their hokey tech staff and bad parts system....IBM should never have been used for TV parts.

i would buy the samsung then the lg then last phillips, first of all samsung and sony own the factory that makes the lcd panels it is one of the brightest panels out there some models 3000 5000 in contrast ratio how bright they are lg is a zenith philps is magnavox both companies have a hard time in repair or parts most panels should last 60000 hrs but if you do need help some times parts are on back ordered take along time to get now i have been selling tvs for over18 years and see these models side by side and i would own a samsung

I have a 42 inches Philip flat screen TV for the last 2.5 years and Its great, clear picture, good sound quality 0 maintenance till date.

i work for charter as cable tv installer, i see tvs all day big small plasma , lcd hd projection, the pictures on the SAMSUNG always look great, I would Recommend the samsung try to find one that is hd ready and one that will take a cable card, so you dont have to have a big box from you cable or sat co, this way you can hang it on the wall with out the bagage of cords,.....SAMSUNG

philips is the best choice, it last a very long time.
