Most Officers are tested for drugs and given polygraph test as part of the hiring phase. I can not speak for teachers and judges. From your question I think you have a personal beef against Law Enforcement. I have never heard of a teacher taking the law into their own hands and then lie about it. Most police depatments have a very strict hiring process to try to weed out the bad ones. However it is not a perfect system and some still get through. Others go bad once they have been hired. For the most part officers are good honest people that are doing a thankless job for little money and respect. All that ever gets reported is the bad officers, cause now thats news. The public does not want to hear about the officer doing his job.

This sounds like a witch hunt against these professions and indeed against everyone who works with children. You're saying that no one should be trusted when it comes to children's safety. Are children less safe than they were a few years ago or is it the media blowing up sensational crimes to make everyone fear that these crimes are getting out of hand?
You say they (meaning these three professions) want kids tested for drugs. I haven't heard of this except in isolated cases.
Then you say they "take the law into their own hands then lie about it." What are you referring to?
I teach in a high school in a conservative small town in CaliforniMF There is far more abuse of drugs and alcohol by the students than the staff.

Most all Law Enforcement Agencies require both test before hiring. I am not a supporter of the Polygraph, it is a tool that can be used or abused dependent upon the technician. As for Judges, remember they are lawyers. I think it would be good for them too, but I don't see that happening. Also you may not be aware of it, but lawyers in court are not under oath nor is the Judge, only the defendant and the Peace Officer are under oath along with any witness's. Doctor's and Lawyer's have a license to PRACTICE MEDICINE OR LAW. Police Officer do not have that luxury, they have to do it right or else.

For police officers, they take a polygraph test before they are hired in all departments I am aware of.
And all the departments I have ever worked for have all done random drug tests at the start of your shift on a regular basis.
Teachers of course have a union and can not be forced to even be good teachers once they have been on the job for enough time.

Uhh...we do get tested and we do have to take polygraphs(law enforcement). What about the other people that come in contact with children like daycare workers, social service, etc etc?

I don't know about teachers and judges, but 99% percent of police departments drug test and polygraph their officers.

I firmly believe we need drug testing in those areas, but I am not on board with the lie detectors. I worked for several years in a school district that sorely needed drug testing and wouldn't.

fine test them for drugs but what does it prove are they addicts or recrational users lie detectors are unrelieable thats why they can't be used in court any way you look at it is still necessary to hold people in these positions to a higher standard than you would just about anyone else because of the jobs they do.
