Go to the library and look for a bible. I'm sure you will believe it is real when you hold one in your hands.

There was an ancient historian by the name of Josephus that recorded history during the time of Christ....you can visit a website about him at this address:

http://members.aol.com/fljosephus/home.htm

There has also been other evidences found over the years...like the Dead Sea Scrolls...and some claim to have found Noah's Ark etc. Many of the prophecies in the Bible can be proven to have come to pass because of archelogical digs that have taken place in various parts of the of the ancient world....so the peoples that lived then are known to have existed...so there is no reason to believe that the Bible is not real.

In order to genuinely be open to the answers you may recieve in favor of the Bible being real you must first have a sincerely open mind. I would suggest you check out a book that I have recently purchased and begun to read called "Historical Evidence for the Bible". It discusses in detail historical proof in the form of writings of people of Christ's time who were NOT Christians but still write of the occurances. It goes through in sections talking about the Old and New Testaments as well as Chist's life, reception and death. It's very interesting if you have questions regarding these things. Give it a shot. I wish you well.

The bible is simply a book written by men. It has been translated , transcribed, modified and interpreted in so many ways that people are finally realizing that it is pure fiction as is the Koran, budda, the great manitou, and all the rest.
One has to only see the stars at night to realize there is a greater being but the bible and hell and all the rest -- total man made clap-trap to make money. Just check out that preacher on TV Sundays who sweats and walks around with the bible open in his hand but then uses the money people send him for prostitutes

There isn't any. There's only proof that people and places in the bible existed. It does not prove the bible is real. It just proves that the writers used familiar locations in order to relate to the people they were trying to convert.

The Bible

Matthew 5:18
I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Colossians 1
3We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints— 5the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel 6that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth.

You act like someone sat down and recently wrote the Bible in one day. The books of the Bible were written over the span of thousands of years. The book of Isaiah, for instance, was written in approximately 500 B.C. It, along with the early books of the Bible, made futuristic prophecies concerning Christ, which came to pass thousands of years later just like they predicted. We even uncovered the ancient Dead Sea Scrolls which also bare witness of Christ. And even our own calender is based on Christ's birth. We live in the year 2006 A.D. -- Anno Domini, meaning, "In the year of our Lord, 2,006."

I will tell you why I believe the Bible to be authoritative and the Word of God. You can decide for yourself whether that is reason enough to trust in it's guidance.

The Bible was written by many different authors over a period of about 1500 years. Yet, despite the differences in authors, their backgrounds, their occupations, the Bible is in harmony with itself.

The Bible has not changed despite centuries of translations. It has been remarkably preserved. The dead sea scrolls found in 1947 proved this. There was at least of portion of every book of the Old Testament except for Esther, and almost the whole text of Isaiah, word for word.

The Bible has withstood the test of archeology. With every new find, the historical accuracy of the Bible is verified.

The Bible answers all life's hard questions. Where did I come from? Why am I here? What am I supposed to be doing while I am here? Where will I go when I die?

The Bible is accurate when it comes to prophecy. For instance, there are hundreds of messianic prophecies in the OT, each one remarkably fulfilled in the life, death and ressurection of Jesus Christ. In addition, the prophecies of Daniel have been fulfilled to the letter. Daniel 2 reveal that there will be four world kingdoms to dominate the earth. In order, these are Babylon 605-539BC, Medo-Persia 539-361 BC, Greece 361-168 BC and Rome 168 BC-AD 476. After this Daniel predicts that Rome will split into 10 kingdoms. This is exactly what happened. Isaiah 45:1 predicted 150 years before Cyrus was born that he would capture Babylon In addition, Isaiah told the method that Cyrus would use, by drying up the Euphrates. In Daniel 9, the exact year of Jesus' baptism is predicted, along with the year of his death. There are countless others. Let's see any other holy book do that.

The Bible changes lives. God spoke the world into existence, and the same God recreates us in his image by transforming us by the Holy Spirit through the written Word of God. The Word of God is just as powerful written as it is spoken. Millions of changed lives are testimony to this fact.

For these and other reasons, I find the Bible to be an accurate and reliable source of reference, In fact, the Bible speaks of itself:

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness 2 Timothy 3:15,16

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:20,21

I will leave it up to you to study and find out if the Bible is a reliable source for you. My belief system is based on the Bible. I trust it with my life and the lives of my children. If I did not deem it to be accurate, I would not value it do highly.

some of the prophecies that were foretold have come true (ex. like the Messiah who is Jesus Christ coming down to Earth to die for our sins). There's a book called "What Does the Bible Really Teach?". You may find the answers you are looking for.
