Reason for pubic hair
It is believed that the functions of pubic hair include the dissemination of pheromones and protection from the friction of sexual intercourse. Natural selection may also have sustained it because it can show a potential sexual partner that the other person is sexually mature and can reproduce. Pubic hair and the growth between the tops of the legs and the buttocks, like under arm hair, helps to lubricate the areas, making movement smoother and more comfortable.

There is no definitive theory on the reason for the existence of pubic hair. The prevailing theory relates to pheromones — scents that the body produces that can be sexually stimulating to others. In this theory, the tufts of hair that grow around the genitals, as well as under the arms, capture these erotic scents. Pheromones get trapped in the pubic hair when apocrine glands release an odorless secretion on the surface of the skin that combines with bacteria decomposed by the secretions of the sebaceous glands. Humans have the same number of hair follicles as gorillas, chimpanzees and orangutans, but body hair is generally very fine or barely visible in comparison. So, while pubic hair and underarm hair might be considered the primary scent traps, they are not the only ones. For some people, scents from these areas are noticeable and consciously increase sexual arousal. Pheromones might not be obvious but may be detected subconsciously.

Another theory is that the pubic hair keeps the genitals warm. The purpose of women's pubic hair could be similar to that of the cilia in the nose, in that it prevents small foreign particles from entering the vagina. If this is true, male pubic hair may be a vestigial trait.

I think nose hairs are for catching little debris so it won't fall into trachea or lungs.

Oh the age old questions. Why? I know that hair in the nose prevents a lot of things from being breathed in, even viruses. It's sort of a filter. Pubic hair and underarm hair are both there for the smell, yes I did say it. In the stone age smells were part of what drew men and women together to proliferate the human race. They didn't think of body odor was dirty but were drawn to it like fermions or a musky odor. That's all I know. Also what about hair on the head...you see cartoons with cavemen dragging women by their hair...maybe that's why God Makes them loose theirs when they get older and we get to keep ours, lol

Pubic hair serves two biological purposes. First, it cushions the area and to some extent serves as a dry lubricant during intercourse. That is, having two surfaces padded with curly hair lets the surfaces slide across one another without getting friction burns and blisters in a tender area. Think of it as like putting a sheepskin pad under the saddle of a horse.

Second, it collects and releases scent -- including pheromones -- which convey information about the person's health and sexuality. The hair under the arms (correctly called axillary hair) serves the same purpose; apocrine glands in the pubic area and under the arms release a person's unique signature scent, which is trapped and distributed by the hairs in those areas.

Several very interesting scientific studies have recently explored the effect of this scent. The first one sorted test subjects by their immune systems, and involved having a number of women smell the scent collected from several different men; the women were then asked to rank the scent on how sexy it smelled. It turned out there was a strong correlation between the appeal of a scent and how different that person's immune system was from the woman asked to rate it. The conclusion drawn by the scientists was that we respond to the scent of people who are naturally resistant to different kinds of diseases than we are because we sense that it will make our children stronger. (It certainly goes a long way toward explaining the "Is SHE going out with HIM???" reaction...)

The second study explored sexual orientation. In this study, test subjects sorted themselves into four categories: gay men, lesbians, straight men and straight women. The subjects were asked to rank four scent samples, but were not told to whom they belonged. It turns out that there's a strong correlation between gay men ranking the scent of other gay men at the top, but apart from that, everybody else thought lesbians were sexy -- straight men, straight women, and other lesbians all ranked the scent of lesbians as the most appealing. (That could go a long way toward explaining why so many straight porno films have lesbian scenes...) The conclusion of this study was that there appears to be a biological component to sexual orientation, that it is not entirely psychological.

Oh, and hairs in the nose are there to trap incoming foreign objects (such as insects, dust, etc.)

Hair is generally for warmth and protection.

There is some protection afforded by pubic hair, and nose hairs do serve to filter and warm the air.

Criminy! Nose hair is a filter. Pubic hair is a covering or padding for delicate machinery. Enough said.

the natural purpose? keeping warm

and the hair in the inside of our noses is to stop any types of bodies entering our nose. When such bodies like dust mites and germs, which are smaller, pass through, they either get caught in the mucus, or they pass it. In that case, you are going to sneeze, because the cili's in your nose is forcing the bodies out.

Nose hair filters debris. Pubic hair is just one of those things. That's why they wax. Maybe it protects.
