don't use an iron on your hair! it will burn it and it'll probably make it very dry and break off.

Don't straighten your hair now! You have such little time. Just use a bunch of mousse and scrunch your hair. Curls are pretty when properly tamed. If you are using a regular iron it is bad for your hair but it will do the trick. Just make sure your hair is dry or else it will burn! Invest in a CERAMIC hair straightener, it will cost you quite a bit but it is worth it. Not the cheap immitation straighteners. Anyway, when straightening your hair make sure it is well conditioned to protect it. Give yourself a deep conditioning treatment. Use a good salon conditioner, put it all troughout your hair and let it sit for 20 to 30 and then rinse. You should only do that once a week. Normaly when conditioning your hair, you condition it from where your ponytail starts right down to the tips. Please make sure your hair is dry or else it wil fry. There's this good stuff that you can get in salons that you lightly spray to make your shinny and silky. You can spray some in the palms of your hands and rub it in the ends of your hair. That will protect it when you are straightening your hair. You should buy yourself a hair dryer to so that you don't straighten your hair when wet. Also, when straightening your hair it helps if you have a clip to keep your hair up, so you can straighten it in sections from the underneath layers of hair to the top layers of your hair. That way you don't miss any parts and it looks more evenly done.
Good Luck!

straightening hair with whatever will damage your hair...
i would think that an iron is hotter than a straightener, but i could be wrong...

And you'll want to make sure your hair is well conditioned before you use heated appliances. And you should consider a weekly deep-conditioner to protect the hair and restore the moisture the styling takes away. A daily leave-in conditioner is also a good way to keep heat-styled hair from drying out.

I've actually used a iron to straighten my hair a couple of times when i was younger, well my mom did it. No it wont burn your hair. My mom put it straight onto my hair with no paper! the paper is more likely to burn. My mom used to do it all the time when she was younger so its absolutely okay! Its definitely as nice as a ceramic straightener but if its only once, don't worry it'll be fine! I recommend having someone else do it, you don't want to touch your scalp with it.
I put a towel over a table and put my head up to the table and my hair on it. My hair was dry. My mom then combed my hair out onto the towel and the put the iron on it. Don't leave the iron on one spot for to long, keep it moving! It acutally got my hair straighter than my flat iron in less time...

a regular flat iron is no good so would suggest getting the maxiglide cause it will not only straighten your hair but it will also detangle it as well and it wont burn your hair at all, all u have to do first is steam the ends and then straighten it in one single pass

If I were you, i would forget the straightening idea and run some gel thru it to define the curls and get the frizz out. The you can leave it down, or pull it up in a bun or another type of updo.

You won't burn it unless the setting is too high!

Wash your hair and dry it lightly so that is is still kind of damp, but not wet.
put the curler on a low setting. In tiny blocks of hair (separate your hair into ten pieces with clips or pins) slowly drag the curler down the hair without stopping. Do not pull or pinch the hair with the curler.

You'll be fine!

yeah it can straighten it using a curling iron just make sure at the end of holding the curling iron down you curl the ends of your hair. as far as damaging it you might want to put something on that's heat activated before you curl it to protect it form getting damaged.
