What is so wrong with kids dressed up as a fictional character anyway? Aren't you smart enough to realize they are just pretending?

Halloween is much more than just trick or treating. It's the night when the dead walk the earth and the veil between the otherworld and this one thin enough to talk to the dead. It's the day when the most supernatural power flows through the world.

The reason Christianity is so against Halloween is that it's a Pagan holiday that celebrates everything they're afraid of. Halloween is also called Samhain (Sow-in" or alternatively "Sa-ven", meaning: End of the Summer) and is the witches New Year.

Many Christians call it evil, even though it's no such thing.

I personally love Halloween just as I love Christmas but for different reasons. Christmas is a time for family for me. Halloween is the time of the god and goddess. A time of immense supernatural power. The power makes my nerves tingle. An increase in supernatural happenings (such as ghost sightings) also increases until that night.

As some of the others have said why not use the innocent
black kitten, or the cute pumpkins with the funny faces or
one of the characters from story land for costumes. I see no reason for not having a little fun. The "Veggie" characters look pretty funny to me. With the candy in a little pumpkin you may want to include a brief poem with a message that turns Halloween around. It doesn't have to be evil.
Enclosed is a poem I like. I don't know who wrote it.

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin.
God lifts you up,takes you in,and washes all the dirt off of
you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and
scoops out all the yucky stuff---including the seeds
of doubt, hate, greed; etc. Then He carves you a
new smiling face and puts His light inside you to
shine for the whole world to see. This was passed on
to me from another pumpkin..Now it is your turn to
pass it to a pumpkin.

No. the undertaking that a Christian must be responsive to in the process Halloween is the concentration on evil, witchcraft and the occultic stuff. God reserves the be conscious, "Abomination" for a purely some sinful practices. The occult and homosexuality are 2 of them. So Christians sidestep Halloween celebrations to sidestep any institutions with the occult. it rather is okay to consume candy, even on Oct thirty first. rather, we don't have fun Halloween, yet we nonetheless tend to get a lot of candy and that i became in a sugar coma final night sitting on my front porch! (I scouse borrow the candy from my little ones :)

who said it was a sin to dress up into a costume and get candy? but Halloween is not just about costumes and candy is it? If you want a dose of just how evil it is go to one of those "darkness" haunted houses. Notice the appropriate name darkness. I remember when I use to dress my kids up and take the "trick or treating"..my son didn't want to go but I pretty much made him so his sister could go..now I wish I never brought them around period..not to mention the kids that end up being put into harms way because they were visiting some psychos house who would poison the candy..what was I thinking?

Some Christians think that because it focuses attention on demons and witches it is not what a Christian should be involved in. If it were just dressing up in something other than a demon's or witch's costume and begging for candy, I'm sure most of them would have no problem with it.

ALL true Christians know Halloween, along with Easter and Christmas are wrong. They all have pagan origins. At John 4:24, Jesus said that we must "worship God with spirit and truth". We can't do that if we involve ourselves in anything that goes against true worship, no matter how much "fun" it is.

We do realize the dressing up is fun and that is ok - but there is a great deal of spiritual junk going on.
That is the troubling part - lots of awful stuff that is harmful. Have you seen the movie previews lately?

lol, it's because some of them just want to be silly and make a big scene. They wanna get people so worked up about nothing. They try so hard to prove such a silly point. oh, and not discriminating against some of those Christians or any for that matter. I'm christian also, so whatever. buh-bye now!!!!!

Christians should be ecstatic about their annual opportunity to show the world how Christ has defeated death, and we no longer have to fear it. It's a way for us to put some "meat" into what we sing on Sunday morning about looking forward to our own eternity.

Boo.
