Forgot to add my choice.......Blue Anchor in East Aberthaw, nr Rhoose, Vale of Glamorgan. Main reason is quality of real ales (5 in total) plus the ambience of age........opened in 1381....! Fopod is very high quality, and reasonably priced also. Real log fires (3 in total) during the winter........can you get better than this??

Well even in east aberthaw, the locals drink in different pubs for various reasons. So the question is unanswerable. Now the length and breadth of britain there's thousands of pubs. All of them have a clientele, because it's thier local Now in ireland, the pubs are great and the people fantastic.Though there too,the people prefer "the local".Not wishing in anyway to cast aspersions on your local,I might'nt like thier beer. That's what it's all about BEER there's no such thing as bad beer, just some are better than others It's all a matter of taste. However to answer your question, for mine The Golden Lion is tops.Does'nt have any open fires,it's air conditioned. When you're served a pint it'll hold it's head to the last drop. It's all about beer

The Bell at Skenfrith, near Monmouth, has been named the Michelin Pub of the Year for 2007.

The Michelin team were impressed by the Bell's welcoming ambience, the locally-sourced food, and the extensive ale and wine lists. We like it because Janet's a great landlady.

The Bell does Bed & Breakfast as well, so there's nothing to stop you lingering on the comfy sofas in the bar (or out on the terrace) after lunch.
