I keep them outside in the shed right now where it can get really hot but I've heard rumors about keeping them in the fridge.

Yes, they will last longer. Take them out of your shed as heat can cause batteries to explode or cause a fire. At least put them in a room tempurature environment.

keep them at room temp atleast hot weather will fry them!
