You really are one sad individual - its a f*****8g dog for gawds sake. It has its own built in coat and it probably snapped and bit you for making it look like an idiot - Are you American? Really you seem to be more worried about putting its coat on than the fact that it bit you. My advice is, get it put down before it savages a child, then you will have more to worry about than whether or not it is cold. I am not saying this because I don't like dogs, but if a dog bites its owner, it can never be trusted with anyone else, after all, you feed it.

If this is the same jacket you have been putting on for two years then he's probably sick of the sight of it. Buy him a smart new one,he'll be so grateful.Seriously though,he may have been sore somewhere and the coat hurt him, dogs really don't need coats so I think as he has expressed a preference for not wearing one I'd leave it at that.

Hi there,

if it was out of character for your dog to react in that way then there may be another reason why he did it.

He possible could be sore somwhere on his body and the pressure of the jacket was hurting him. Try pressing gently on different areas of his body and see it this produces any signs of pain from your dog. Such as wimpering or growling or trying to get away. Then I would advise you to consult your vet.

Hope this helps

Best Wishes

I think you should talk to a dog trainer, they will have the best hints.
I think being strong with the dog will help - put the jacket on him whilst talking softly - don't let him get out of it. Punish him if he bites again.

Umm, I wouldn't make the poor thing wear a jacket...

Maybe it is the way you did it, or he has a sore muscle.

Seriously though, if I was a dog, and you tried to make me were clothes, I would bite you too...

you should not be allowed to have a dog does it not tell you something when the dog bit you for trying to put it on him it was the only way he could get it across to you that he did not want it how would you like it if someone tried to put an over coat on you while you were feeling hot

You deserve to get bit. If your dog doesn't want a jacket on him, why the hell would you force it ?
Dog's dont wear jackets - people do. Get a life !

Maybe something spooked him, could have even been the colour of the jacket or hes sick of the sight of it and wants a new one, I thought dogs had fur to keep them warm, mine certainly does.

i have to disagree with the posters whove said dont put the coat on the dog, puit the dog down, kick the dogs teeth out of its head..etc
its clear to me that the dog is having some sort of painful reaction when you put the coat on.
i have two thin coated rat terriers that shiver if i dont dress them. it may have helped the readers to understand the situation better had you stated what kind of dog you have,
