It is not that these women are Americans; it is that they are boors.

Such behavior is no way to get invited back here, either!

Trust me, sir, my Mother is an American woman, and I have NEVER seen her behave thus. Nor do I, my sisters, or any of my friends!

As others have suggested, perhaps it is the sort of people with which you have chosen to associate.

Ah! I see! I've just read your Q&A. You are asking these Q simply to annoy the rest of us and waste our time!

That isn't considered good manners, either! :-))

It is true that it is no way to get invited back. However, why do you say American women. I am an American woman and I have very fine manners. I have had dinner with many American women and not a one has belched or passed gas at the table. You need a better class of friends.

Well, "American women" is quite a large generalization. The United States is a large country...

I am from New England, and speaking for myself and only myself, those who behave in that manner at a dinner table is rude, boorish, and plainly unacceptable.

I'm afraid table manners is not a cultural demand as a whole in the United States. However, please do not generalize our 300 million population. (As determined by our most recent census).

for you to generalize American women like that is completely absurd...it's like saying that all men from England have horribly bad breath and teeth...Middle Eastern men all smell like cows....yada yada....these are horrible assumptions to make about a person based on biased and racist fallacies....i am American and raised in the south, Alabama to be specific...everyone believes that when they hear that they will meet a girl with no shoes on with a piece of straw hanging out of her mouth...one who belches and farts with the guys...this is completely incorrect...i could have dinner with anyone in the world and be completely charming and completely on top of my etiquette....that is not being presumptuous...anyone can enjoy a civilized dinner....maybe you should re-examine you views on foreign women...

manners evaporated in the 70's, the "me generation" had no use for manners, thus they passed no etiquete to their progeny, and so on.
Ill mannered women are quite a revolting, but, what are you going to do. Keep shopping.

I guarantee you that, if you have witnessed an American "woman" do this, s/he was born a MAN! You can't take the boy out of the, um, yes, well.
