He can marry the woman, pay support, or sign away his rights.

You don't specify if you are the male or the female, but either way...

The male can not insist the pregnancy be terminated. Nor does the woman need the man's permission if she decides to terminate.

If the baby is carried to term and the baby is given up for adoption, the man should be informed and asked to sign away his parental rights. At that point, if the father wants the child and the mother does not, he can apply for full custody. If this is the scenario and the father knows it is coming, it is best to get a lawyer before the baby is born.

If the baby is carried to term and she chooses to keep it, the mother can file for child support from the father. The basis behind this is that both parties consented to sex knowing that even with the presence of birth control, there is a potential for a child. Since both parties helped make the child, both parties are held to some level of legal responsibility for the child.

If the mother decides she does not want to have the father in the child's life and does not wish to recieve support, a document stating that should be drafted, signed and notorized to protect both parents later on.

If the mother does not want the father to have access to the child and the father wishes it, he can file to have his legal rights enforced by the court. In doing so, the father should be prepared to have child support payments in place as part of the settlement.

Father's rights are often given far less consideration than mother's rights. Many courts till work on the premise that the mother is the best person to raise a child. And they believe that if a man was willing to engage in sex, he should be more than willing to take responsibility for the reprecussions. This is not always fair...to either parent...but it is certainly a cautionary tale for having sef sex (against pregnancy and diseased) as well as for waiting to be in a serious relationship since you may end up with one, of one sort or another, weather you planned it or not.

First off, she could have been on birth control and it didn't work. It isn't her fault. If you really didn't want that child, you should have used a rubber along with her saying that she was on Birth Control or you shouldn't have had sex.

You have no legal options. You could ask for a Paternity test. You could pay child support. If she ever gets married, you would be able to sign over your rights. (But she would need to be married)

You can't force the mother to have an abortion. Basically I don't think you have an options at this point. As one woman said, once the baby is born you have the option of paying child support or going to jail. That may seem unfair to you, but this is a prime example of why I say that people (male or female) should consider the consequences before they have sex.

i guess it depends on what state your in. If you take a paternity test and you are the father you have to pay until the child is 18 years old. As the father you do have the right to see the child. If its abortion you want your out of luck. If you dont want to pay child support fight for custody and be responsible for this kid 24 hours in every day of your life because thats what the mothers in for or you can take the easy way out and pay the child support. next time think TROJAN

I would make sure I got a DNA test to prove paternity of the child. If the man is proven to be the father then he will normally be ordered to pay child support unless he terminates his parental rights.

options!! U ask about options NOW.. you had options before you got into this spot... 1. dont have sex 2. use protection. Now you can step up and be a man, and/or pay child support and chalk it up as a lessoned learnedand love your child, who BTW, didnt ask to be born into a situation like this.

Its sad that you dont want to be in this babies life. or, maybe you do. thats all up to you. But, If youre not on the birthcertificate and give up parental rights (in court) then you have no legal barrings to this child. Its a matter of lawyer, court, sign, done. Its sad tho. So make sure you think it out. (PS. Girls LIE!)

Could you be more specific about what you are looking for? Are you trying to obtain rights to the child, then sue for custody. If you trying to force her to have an abortion or give the baby up because you don't want to pay child support, you can't.

Planned or not planned, dna shows he is the father and he wants the child in his life, he can get custody or visitation. Along with that, of course, is financial support.
