I was raised Catholic and while there are still certain aspects I like, I didn't agree with alot of the teachings. The older I got, the more I couldn't just go along and pretend that I agreed with certain 'group opinions'. Too many questions about the bible and history that went unanswered or weren't answered to my satisfaction.

I started my love of worlds religions and religious history right about then. I started searching for a belief structure more similar to my beliefs. Even though I'm now very happy as an eclectic pagan, I still read up on every religion and I keep an open mind. Religion/Spirituality should feel comfortable for you.

Well, I changed from one denomination to another within Christianity several times, if that counts, plus I tried to start an New Age church (unsuccessfully) that was more or less non-Christian, partly based on a strange "new Bible" called Oahspe. A number of the groups I joined would be considered by the mainline orthodox churches to be "cults". WHY did I do that? I guess I was searching for something better, something called "Truth" maybe. Of course the reason I joined the Mormons was that I was lonely and bored; I never did get a "testimony that the church was true", as they said I would do. Later I became an agnostic, which I still am to some extent, even though my wife and I have "been added to" a Church of Christ, mostly to please her dying mother. I don't really like being such a hypocrite and the sermons are pretty boring to me.

Hi! Great Question!! I used to belong to a Babtist church when I was in my early teens. I "got saved" by excepting Jesus. However I never really learned anything about the Bible. Then one day some Witnessess started renting a house on my parents horse ranch. I made fun of them along with my friends. But I secretly admired them, and wondered how they had the courage to continually go door to door and talk about the Bible. One day I started asking them about what they believe, and was surprised when they could show me from my own King James Bible that God's name is Jehovah. (psalms 83:18) I had no idea what the name meant, untill that day. Previously I called them names like Jehovah's Witches or Jehovah's Bitches! I feel Bad about that now. But I was acting out of ignorance. Anyway I began a regular weekly study with them and made them prove EVERYTHING they taught. After about a year of discussions and researching other religions I felt convinced that The Witnessess were teaching the truth about the Bible. I was Babtised as a Witness in 1981.

I am from muslim country, I am ex-muslim, my house close to mosque. I change to Christian when I get Christian friend in High School. I can see Christians are very kind, no hate, full of forgiveness, no revenge or violent and it change me.

I leave Islam, because I dont like how they hate other beleiver and they allow violent to protect their religion. Also full of pleasure because man can marry 2/3/4/5 wife without divorce.

Which I understand this religion are totally wrong, Even they claim that they worship God of Abraham. Which I totally not agree because Their religion hate all other beleiver including Christians/Jews/Chatolics which are beleive the same God of Abraham.

Religion is more difficult than I can do, and the consequences of not doing involves guilt and shame. I gave up trying, and now I use faith in God which is much better than trying to do it myself. I believe if I am one with the One who succeeded, then I succeeded also and that "It is finished." My faith has grown by leaps and bounds, but it can keep growing. Religon is material, but faith is spiritual.

at one time i was Christian.
this was because untill my teenage years i had never heard of any other religion. i never liked the hellfire and brimstone teachings. and the ammount of violence that was in the bible and tha history of the church.

when i had a chance to explore other religions i found one that worked for me. and one that i could believe in with all of my heart and soul. that is where i am and will always remain.

I was raised in a christian church and gave it my best shot, but I never really believed all the stuff I was being taught.
It wasn't until I was a grown up that I realized I had been a pagan all along. I just hadn't put a name to it.

I was pretty young when I realized that the Bible was full of things that weren't consistent with reality. It took a few years to fully admit to myself that I was an Atheist, but I finally did. It is pretty hard to declare that you think your parents are delusional at 10 or so.
