Yup, it works, I've tried it before. Warning, though: it gets your hair very greasy. I had to wash it three or four times to get it looking clean.
If you want to try it, first, pick a day when you don't have to go anywhere and you have the time for all the shampooing you'll have to do. Grease up your hair and wrap it in a warm towel. The warmth will help the oil seep in. Then leave it for a bit, twenty minutes at least, and then start the shampooing. If that sounds like way too much aggravation, give the hot oil treatments they sell for hair a try. They're not very expensive, and they wash out a lot better.

Lots of skin care companies like to use olive oil and almond oil in their products because of the emolient properties they offer. Many of the anti-aging lotions and treatments have these oils. They are effective and fairly expensive, so those products are thus expensive. If you are interested in some type of moisturizer that really does the trick, these two oils are good. If your skin is really oily though, it could be a bit greasy. I have found that I just have to try things to see how they work!

Do not put olive oil in your hair if you have caucasian hair. It adds unnecessary oils to your hair and scalp and will make your hair extremely limp and greasy looking. The same goes for mayonnaise.
If you need something to make your hair soft and smooth use a shampoo and conditioner and hair balm meant for smoothing/straightening/shine.

I put olive oil in my hair every week and my hair looks wonderful after I put it, but be careful don't put too much olive oil on your hair because it will be very hard to wash it out, I usually put 4 or 5 spoons of it before I wash my hair and leave it for 30 minutes then wash it three or four times "until you feel your hair is not very oily".
almost all middle eastern women use it every week, that's how they keep their hair soft and shiny.

I have. I mixed a little in with some baby shampoo and washed my hair with it for a while. It worked okay. I didn't really notice much of anything. if you are willing to splurge, i highly recommend federic fekkai's glossing conditioner which uses pure olive oil. it makes my hair feel super soft and smells really good. i bet the shampoo works well too though i haven't tried.

I dont know about olive oil. What i do know works, is almond oil. But dont ever go near the roots. If you touch ur roots with oil, ur hair will look really oily and disgusting. Just grab strands of hair and coat them with a tiny little bit of this oil. And itll look great.

I use Olive oil as a hair treatment. I really like it.
leave in overnight and shampoo out the next day.
I have long fine hair and it doesn't make my hair go limp.
Just don't go overboard with it, a little goes a long way.
Don't use baby oil this it's a synthetic yucky oil!
