I have had my cats for 15years - and I have 4. I have gained A LOT of experience in this dept.

Most kitty litters are basically the same. Powders & sprays don't work. Order control multi-litter will help if you only have one, but only short term.

Oder control multi-litter helps with the daily odor of the waste of several cats for a day. With one cat, it will help a little, but it is not a long term solution to odor control.

The only way to control kitty litter odor is to maintain a clean, fresh box for your cat. With one cat, changing all the litter once every 2 weeks is adequate when using a clumping litter and removing the clumps at least every 2 days and topping off the litter.

Me, I buy the cheap litter and change it all every 3 days. The odor is minimal.

If you are looking for a way to not have to change the littler so much, but keeping odor down, try getting an automated litter box. They run about $60-70. You need to use clumping litter

Dear Tim, Being a servant to cats for over 61 years the only real way to keep the order down is to clean the box several times a day which I realize you cannot do. I use Tidy cat and it's probably just as good as any other clay clumping litter, but I am retired so I can clean the boxes more often. Your top concern should be getting the urine odor out of your bed. I have had a "Problem" cat for 16 years and since i cannot afford to re-carpet my entire 4 bedroom home again I found that Urine Gone (I find at Target) and Nature's Miracle (Petsmart,Petco,Walmart, and other pet stores). Follow the directions and you will have to soak the area so enzymes can eliminate the order. Also you may want to offer her more than 1 potty box. I'm down to 1 "yoda" cat and she has 3 to choose from and trust me, she uses all 3. I hope this is of some help to you and Happy Holidays.

I found that adding some baking soda to the cat litter works really well, even if you use a multicat litter for 1 it all works the same.

I have 2 cats. I use Tidy Cats. Every day I clean the litter and replace what was used. I have never had anyone complain about any smell and I do ask people.

It's quicker and easier to clean the litter box every day. Cats are pretty clean and sometimes if you let the litter box go too long they will find somewhere else to go. I mean, would you like to use the toilet for a week without ever flushing it?

I would think so! I used a multi-cat litter when I only had one cat and it was wonderful it never smelled. But now there are 3 cats and it kind of smells. But I think the reason it smells so bad it's because my sister insists on having the litter box under the bed. I keep telling her to move it outside next to a window but she doesn't want to. Anyway, I like Fresh Step or Scoop Away Multi-Cat those work very well with me. Hope this helped. :)

No, they say that to con people into buying it. It is no different then any other litter. No matter what a cats box will carry a little bit of a smell. I use the baking soda stuff in my litter boxes.

i have cats all my life and i just use the cheap litter. i clean out the box once a week with clorox clean-up, and let it dry, then sprinkle a thin layer of comet or ajax in the bottom then add litter. it works great for the foul odors. and it makes the next clean-up a snap.

oh most definately!

I can tell the difference, and if you want to try it you can! Try one week of the cheap stuff & you can see the difference!!!

you also can go out & purchase a cheap bag of charcol & place it bag & all by the kitty litter (not to use) but to help absorb. Its a natural odor absorber.

cats rule!
