Catholics do not worship the the Pope. But we do highly respect him.

Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:17-19)

The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.

The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.

With love in Christ.

The Pope is the head of the Catholic Church, but not an object of worship himself. Catholics worship God.

Catholics do NOT worship the Pope!!! Catholics worship ONLY JESUS CHRIST. He alone is our Savior and our God. It amazes me that so many people have a totally erroneous idea of what the Catholic Church is and what we do. In actuality the Catholic Church is the oldest of the Christian Churches established by Jesus and the Apostles. The Pope is Peter's successor as head of the Church. Every religion has a leader. The Catholics have the Pope as their leader. We do not worship him, but we do respect and revere him for the position he holds. He guides us in our faith just as every other church leader supposedly does.

They say they don't, but many do. When he shows up in places around the world, people bow before him and kiss his ring and call him by titles that exclusively belong to God, like "Holy Father". Even his title, "pope", which comes from the Latin pappas, meaning "father", belongs to God. In a religious sense, didn't Jesus tell his followers not to call one another "father"? See Matt. 23:9.

Catholics say they have high regard for the Pope, but do they? The Pope says he is against abortion. However, many practicing Catholics will get abortions if it suits them. The Pope says no to female priests. Many Catholics vehemently protest that decision. The Pope says he is opposed to homosexuality. That does not sit well with gays and lesbians in the Church. In all reality, the Pope is just a celebrity that many of the faithful will fill the streets to see when he comes to town, but they will continue to do what they want to do, whether their actions agree with the Pope or not.

By the way, where do you find in Scripture that Peter was the first Pope, and that he needed successors?

I think it is believed that the Pope is unable to err because he is the highest authority of the Catholic Church in this world. All humans err in this material realm and worship things of this material world. It is just human. The Pope is human and so are Catholics. Catholics would not say it is worship, but respect and veneration. I do not say.

Catholics do not worship the pope. Now tell the truth; why do you worship yourself?

Why do Muslims worship human leaders who say God talks to them? Evangelical preachers have many persons who worship them. They are all millionaires, from donations so someone thinks that by giving to them they are giving to God. Since they do very little good with the money except get rich. They would be better off with God if they gave it to the cancer society.
They spread false doctrines and say I know how to worship God and then tell them about a mythical man who never existed.
Santa Clause. So basically they lie.
