The area you have it might not be warm enough. I usually turn my oven on for 5 minutes then turn it off. Put the bread in a bowl, cover with a warm damp towel and put it in the oven with the door slightly ajar.

Did you defrost in the refrigerator or on the counter?? If you've only defrosted it, you probably have not got it warm enough to rise yet. Cover the dough and place near a heat register or on top of cookstove with oven turned on low. Let it have some time, then check for signs of life.

It may be flat and sort of doughy in middle. It will still taste good though. My mom could never seem to remember to get it out on time and always cooked it like that! Another way to get it to rise is place it in the pan covered with a damp towel on the dryer while you are doing laundry. My mom used to do that when she made dough from scratch and that always worked.

You did take it out of the fridge and defrost it in a warm place, right? You didn't leave it in the fridge....if so, it will never rise!

You need to find a warm place to set it while it is rising. I often put mine up high where it is warmer.
