Could the nationality of "Islam" exist without Quran created "enemies" to rally against?

Question

The word "enemy" is one of the most commonly used words in the Islamic culture. Islam defines itself in reference to the "enemies" prescribed by the Quran.

If Muslims didnt have the "kafir / infidel / unbeliever" as an enemy...what would Islam be? After all, most people believe in God right?

PS - Im an Agnostic so any reply like "the bible also has X and Y" is meaningless to me. I dont understand how people could be so stupid to think that offering another potentially "bad thing" from another religious text can, in anyway, suffice as an answer to a question that deals with Islam.

In other words, I dont give a F**K if you hate Christanity or any other religion...I do however recommend a lobotomy to any idiot stupid enough to babble on, to an agnostic, about their hatred for Christianty, when I...an AGNOSTIC...ask questions about I-S-L-A-M.

it's more true -if not still unbeliavably jaded-- to say that christianity needs satan to exist.

Islam needs no such thing. The life style of a muslim man invoves a lot of peace, alot of togetherness, alot of communing with god, a lot of giving to the community and to fellow people who need it as an absolute requirement, it even has quotas of how much you should give unlike christianity.

& people confuse shiis and sunis with muslims too much! cultures & different peoples clash all the time, it doesn't matter if they share the same religion or not. take germany & the rest of the western world as a case in point, often they were praying to the same god just before they went up & murdered e/o it's the fighting that's stupid, the killing & the people doing it, not the religion.

I'im christian myself but i do admire the muslim believer's way & it's not the way of the terrorist.

Islam is not a nationality. Iraqi, Palestinian, Egyptian, Moroccan - those are all nationalities. Islam is a religion of peace. The enemy you speak of is a metaphor for all other non-believers. The quran doesn't ask that you kill any enemies or die in the name of allah, they ask that you wage jihad, a spiritual war, on others. By that they mean conquer other with love. Just because the middle east is full of corruption doesn't mean the the quran is an evil book, or that muslims are a bad people.You should really take a class on islamic history if you're really interested in islam. I did and it changed my entire view of things.

Your question might make sense if you knew what the hell you were talking about. Islam is NOT a nationality. It IS a religion, practiced by many nationalities, including American, Moroccan, English etc... Educate yourself before you speak.

you seem to babble on a bit there at the end...

as a christian, I would say that i would agree with you, but for Islam to disappear (according to your view) everyone would have to be islamic, and then Islam would not disappear. For anyone who is not a muslim is an enemy of islam.

Good theory, but not very practical. I'll let you become a muslim first and you can tell us how it goes.
