I'm scheduled for a liver biopsy next week. The medication is Humira and Enbrel. MRI shows enlarged liver and spleen. Has anyone experienced this and if so, what was the outcome?

I get Remicade infusions every 6 weeks for psoriatic arthritis, combined with weekly doses of methotrexate. I've had one high liver test outcome and couldn't get my infusion until it came down. I retested a week later and my numbers were normal again. But, I've never taken Humira or Enbrel. I've been on infusions for about a year now and only the one high liver test. It might be something to ask your doctor about doing instead of the Humira/Enbrel route. Hope this can help, good luck to you.

This sounds like you may have chronic hepatitis C (or B). Your doctor should have tested you for the antibodies to hepatitis B & C. If those come back reactive or positive, then the next tests should be to see if it's active or chronic. But if you're going for a liver biopsy, they may have already determined that something is going on and want to see how much liver damage there is. When blood is unable to effectively pass through the liver due to scarring or cirrhosis, then the blood gets backed up into the spleen, causing the spleen to enlarge. It sounds like you have two separate issues; liver disease and RA. I've had hep c but did the treatment and responded 6 years ago. I now have RA or Spondylar Arthritis (doctor can't decide) and I'm on meds for RA (sulfasalazine, plaquenil, and voltaren). Best wishes.

Cats are living longer and more illnesses/diseases are being discovered. A lot can be done for cats to help them. Ask the vet. Don't be afraid to say that I'm sorry but I'm just not following. Do you know of any sources that I can check for additional information? They may be able to give you an article in a journal. The urine and blood sample will give them more insight into what is happening. Make sure your cat is comfortable, happy and wait for the results.

No but i guess you are going through some very confusing out comes about it all, as I have high bilirubin in my liver, that is when i drink alcohol it doesn't dilute it like it should and causes me trouble, but if i am to drink my self silly i will get cirrhosis of the liver, and i certainly wouldn't like to be on a waiting list to be getting a liver transplant. So do what your Dr's are telling you as it is an organ of yours that was given to you to look after as i don't believe in swapping organs around in our bodies we were given them so we should look after them good luck and hope you get better
