I would be a little against it at first, you know because she is my daughter and all I want to do is protect her...but then I think...she has gonoe through 20 years of decision making so she is able to think for herself, and she was honest enough to let me know. I'd say "do what makes you happy, just make sure you are sure that its really what you want."

but you should also ask her why it would make her happy to understand her point of view

I would try to talk her out of it by explaining that there are better ways of making a living. Not that posing for Playboy isn't someone's career. I would encourage my daughter to use her brain (smartness) and go for a job that she would truly love and something that might challenge her. Playboy is easy money but also exploits women. At the very least, I would beg her to wait until she is 25....which she may change her mind by then! If that doesn't work, I would tell her that it goes against our cultural traditions and values (which it does). I would not want to lose my daughter - so if she chose to do this regardless of anything I said, I would tell her that it does not make me proud of her but that I still love her.

Hi ..... ouch!

Sorry mate but the fact is your daughter is 20! She is the one repsonsible for her life now and her choices.

As a parent all we can do is give our advice but ultimatley the choice is theirs. Then as parents its still up to us to support them whether we agree with them or not.

One thing I will say is that if you daughter is confident enough to pose for playboy then you as a parent have done something right when you raised her! She obviously has a great self esteem and is open and honest. She also loves you because she has told you what she is doing.

So stand up and be proud of the proud and independant daughter you have raised.

As Jonny Cash sang " I wouldn't like it but I guess things happen that way".
If she could make a ton o fmoney modeling in playboy I would say go for it. A daughter in a bikini is about as close to naked a as she can get with out being there and hundreds of people looking at her. So what is the big deal. I personaly find nothing wrong with it. It's a personal decision, one I would make myself for playgirl:).and bucks.

I'd think that I'd failed as a father. What I'd do is talk to her calmly and try to understand her desire to display her body in such a public and sexual manner, ask her to consider the longterm implications and possible consequences, and try to open the dialogue to talk about her self-perception, values and sexual ethics.

But honestly, if you're talking about a 20 year old, if I as her father haven't already contributed to all of those aspects of her thinking, motivation, character and moral judgment by then, I'm not going to make much headway if she's 20.

I would hope by the time my daughter was 20 I had raised her completely and she would be capable of making her own choices. Doesn't mean I would aprove but my work is done.

I would not be happy with the idea, but if she is 20 years old then she can do what she wants.

There really is nothing I could do about it because shes an adult and is entitled to make her own decisions.

I would want have a conversation with her about it and find out why she did it, what her rationale was. I would be open-mindedly curious.
