"Dwindling in Unbelief" counted the number of people that were killed by God in the Bible. They came up with 2,270,365, which, of course, greatly underestimates God's total death toll, since it only includes those killings for which specific numbers are given. No attempt was made to include the victims of Noah's flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc., with which the good book is filled. Still, 2 million is a respectable number even for world class killers.

But how does this compare with Satan? How many did he kill in the Bible?

Well, they could only find ten, and even these he shares with God, since God allowed him to do it as a part of a bet. I'm talking about the seven sons and three daughters of Job.

killings:
God - 2,270,365+
Satan - 10

No contest.

Look at the site - most of the victims were soliders of tribal war, many were babies, one was just picking up sticks on Sunday.

Awesome, and of course it makes sense doesn't it,after all God did just kill everyone on earth without batting an eye,at least according to the Bible. I have actually come to the conclusion that God may be the evil one Satan is often made out to be. Perhaps God kicked him out of heaven for reasons other than what we've all learned, maybe he was looking at this bloodbath God was creating and objected. It would explain alot, like a supposedly loving God creating Hell,a place of punishment that would be evil overkill for 99.9% of the people who would go there,if you look at who the bible says is going there.

Let's check the latest scores: God, 2 million if you say so, although generally you'll find either that people did it "in the name of God" rather than God doing it directly, so we can't tell how many of the 2 million God genuinely intended or killed directly himself.

Satan 10 - although I imagine that the rather partisan website you quote wasn't looking quite so hard for these examples, and the key point about Satan's score is this.....

Humans - Countless millions. How many humans, of any religion, or no religion at all, down through history, have killed other humans? Hundreds of millions of Humans will have been killed by other humans since time began - wars, murders, genocide, crusades, ethnic cleansing, industrial accidents, road traffic accidents, domestic violence etc etc etc ad nauseam. If you want to argue that all the killing done in the old testament was done at God's command, or influenced/arranged by God, then I'll argue that every time a human has killed another human being other than the 2 million occasions you quote, it was Satan that commanded it, made it happen, suggested it, and I think in that case, Satan would win hands down.

if God created man he has the power to take away his life as well
and remember, God only destroyed the wicked he never destroyed the righteous.
There is a passage from the book of Genesis 18:16 where abraham pleads for Sodom, he actually interceded (prayed) to God asking Him if He would destroy the city even if there were 50 righteous people until abraham reached to ask about ten righteous people and God said that even then there were 10 he would not destroy it.

my point is that God now has mercy over his people since he sent His only son to die on the cross for us. so if you are trying to blame God for all the 2,270,365+ think of it that he did it because God is holy and righteous. romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in [ Or through] Christ Jesus our Lord.

Neither.

They are both fictional characters. And, even if they were real, they have a deal in which neither of them are allowed to meddle in the affairs of humans - they are only allowed to meddle from afar. So neither can be responsible for deaths. (Im talking NT here, not OT. Youre right in the OT acccounts)

However, you are correct in your assumption that the Ideology of Gods has lead to many many more deaths than the worship of Satan... If you understood what Satanism is about, you wouldnt have to ask this question....

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

um... if you include WHY everyone has to die. because SATAN tempted eve in the beginning. So in a weird way you could say Satan is responsible for ALL deaths.

Think of it the Babies got to go to heaven. A lot of the people killed were murders , rapist, had human sacrifices. And if God gives a command its wise to obey it.

About pick up sticks who do you think tempted the person to do it eh?

The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed in the name of God, Jesus, and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement, but few can argue with it.

NON. Because they are both fictional.

Question for you. How many people did our country US of A have killed after 9-11 versus the muslim extremist?

Neither has killed a single soul, as they are fictions, but those who believe in them...that's another story entirely. Ah, the injustices and atrocities carried out in the name of religion.
