I love pitbulls they are great dogs. The reason they are used in bad situations like by drug dealers as guard dogs is because they will give up their life to defend you. You can look that up, its a fact. If we were aloud to have one in our community we would. You do have to make sure they are socialized with other dogs and children at a very very young age, and very often. Getting an older pit bull from someone is not a good idea, as specially if you have children. Great dogs!!

Any dog can be a "good" dog. You have to be specific.
As for the question, pitbulls can be good dogs. However, there is something you cannot take away from them - They have been bred, in the past, as fighting dogs. However, if you get them young and love them, nurture them, and train them, they can be great dogs.
30% of dog attacks are from pit bulls. You may think, "Pff, 30 isn't a big number...". But think about it: There are hundreds of breeds that make up that other 70%. 30% of pit bulls ONLY is a large number.
Granted, all dogs, no, all ANIMALS in general can be unpredictable, it's just that, without proper care, pit bulls can be more so than others.

Ok first let me get to answering the question head line, personally i love pitbulls...i work in a kennell and everytime i see a pitbull there absolutly great. They're so amazingly friendly, and this is basically everytime i've seen one. but yeh it all depends on how the dogs been raised, and i guess the training of the dog, just like any dog really.
i do not know f this wileewill (i hope to never type that word again) maybe he has sumthing against pitbulls, like you suggested a pitbull disorder

Pitbulls are the best dogs ever! I have a dog who was used as a bait dog in pitbull fighting. When I found him, he could barely walk, was covered with mange, and was nearly dead. There were swollen places all over him from old bites. He had been put out to die, because he was too weak to use as a bait dog any more. And, by the way, somebody cut his ears off as a puppy with a pair of sheep shears. His back is crooked from an olf spinal injury and one leg barely works. And he is the sweetest, most beautiful dog in the world now.

My friend had an american pitbull and a british bull terrier. He loves dogs, unfortunately he had to have the pitbull euthanizied because he attacked. The British bull terrier lived till old age.
What about the 86 year old lady picking rasberries in her yard when attacked by neighbours pit?Im sure the media pays more attention to pits and gives them a bad name but it seems to me pits can turn.Im not saying not to have one,we have pit cross at work and shes sweet!I just dont trust them.Perhaps some pits have inbreeding and it makes them snap.
I think if you own any dog you should have proffesional training.People need to protect there dogs from situations that could lead to an attack.Children need to understand their behavour and body language. No hugging the family pet or putting their faces into the dogs.No rough play,i coould go on and on,but i wont.
We have a golden retriever given to us because he bit a delivery man.Living in the coountry makes things easier. To protect our dog we never take him off leash and never let people pet him.Hes preety isolated but thats for his own protection.
As for pits, personally I'd never own one,to each his own!

P.S. the post above this one is incorrect. Pit Bulls, when listed with over 200 other breed, are 4th, from the BOTTOM, in likeliness to bite a person. However, they are tied with Rottweilers and Dobermans as being most likely to cause death when they bite. Also, many stories/articles that metion a Pit Bull are erroneous, and the dog in question is a mixed breed or related breed, not an actual American Pit Bull Terrier.

the disorder is called ignorance. People are scared of what they dont know. I have a pit lab mix and she is a big baby. ive never seen a 60lb dog that still things shes a lap puppy. but i would never own another breed of dog. They are the most loyal sweet family dogs if they are raised right and not fought. A few bad stories about a couple of fighting pits and now everyone is a critic. They spolied it for all of us who done a good job raising our dogs by spreading all these myths about pits.

Some people don't understand that it's the owner that makes the dog. Pitts are awsome pets and can be the best thing that ever happened o you. Don't worry what ignorant people have to say. It's the people with experience that have the most to teach you.

Well about your question. Pitbulls are good dogs if you raise them right. My cousin got attacked by a rotewiller and a pit bull last year and his face was bitten up and they bit his left arm. And what does this question has to do with wileewill?

Well all that anyone knows about APBT's (those that have NOT raised one from a puppy) is the myths. My husband and I have one that is one year and four months old. They are the best dogs. They follow you to every room, they snuggle, they tussle, they are protective and want nothing more than to please their owner. For a dog to have such a bad rap they are the biggest teddy bears out of all breeds of dogs! Right now our new snotty neighbors are giving us a hard time because we have one-all they have to do is get to know him! DUH!
