Possibly because it's an intolerant religion. No criticism is allowed, it's literalistic, it's largely a cobbled together mix of Judaism, xtianity, and arabic paganism but nobody will allow that to be discussed in case it persuades people to abandon the mullahs and imams.
Note that it's the "religion" I'm discussing here, not the people, some of wome probably accept the religion out of fear and some, just because they're poorly educated and gullible.
As with all religions, the religious authorities have a vested interest in maintaining the religion as it's their job - ie. it pays them, it gives them power (whether moral or immoral) over hugee numbers of people, it gives them power over governments. who wouldn't want to maintain that?
Finally, many people should try actually READING the koran. They would then see for themselves what it says. The usual arguments are: "You don't understand it" , "The translation must be wrong", "it doesn't mean what it says, only a mullah can interpret it for you". try accepting the fact that the educated population in each country are quite capable of understanding it, but, they're not permitted to discuss the matters involved as it might reveal the cruelty, intractability and irrationality of the entire book.

I am not Muslim, but I feel so upset when people talk about Islam in a bad way. I have Muslim friends, and they are just normal good people. I guess some people just don't want to realise it, as humans are made to be scared by something that is different from them.
Also because the government doesn't want people to think that their foreign policy etc. is actually very double standarded and making things worse, so they just want people to blame on someone else, which is Islam. There is clearly a racism going on over Islam, but no one is saying anything useful to stop it. And I think the same thing is happening to immigrants. Immigrants are being blamed for taking up jobs from native people, while so may of native people are signing on benefits and sitting in their free home rather than having to get up in the morning to go to work. And the government is trying to toughen up the immigration law, instead of helping those who do not work to start working. And as it is so, you get really harsh times if you are Muslim and immigrant. This is injustice.
I hope people realise this is ridiculous. And I am sorry for what Muslim people are going through now.

Because the Islamists that we do get to hear from are usually those that hold extreme views and take great pleasure in making sure that they don't like other religions or beliefs.
It also doesn't help that as a general rule they don't integrate into British society and culture.
When in Rome etc.
When we visit Islamic / Moslem countries we are expected to abide by their laws etc.
When they come here, they want to impose their laws, rules, beliefs etc. on us.
This is why I have no religion, it seems to me to be root cause of most conflicts and wars around the globe.
I view it as mass control for the weak minded.
Note that NONE of the above is meant to be "racist" in any way.
I'm against organised religion, not different races or cultures.

The real enemies of islam are within.
It does not take a clever mind to think back a few short years ago.
Then there was;
no talk of islam,
no legal suits against schools over uniforms,
no threats against the people of this island,
no radical preachers calling for Jewish and Christian blood
no ill-feeling between neighbourhoos.
Now we have all of the above, and it is down to the preachers of hatred.
We are painfully aware 100 people have lost their lives in Iraq today, the same will die tomorrow, and the same number again for every day of the year.
35,000 lives each year being wasted!
People of peace around the world are in mourning whilst parents bury their dead, bereaved children cry out for their fathers and their lost childhood.
Too many places on this small planet are bloodbaths. And for what?

We don't know much about Islam. We hear some Moslems saying that Jews and Christians must convert or be killed; we don't know whether all Moslems think like that.
We saw demonstrations here in the UK, where we are all free to practise our beliefs in peace and tolerance, calling for those who insulted the Prophet to be beheaded. Of course your faith shouldn't be insulted. You can protest at that. But this over-reaction was scary. This was a face of Islam that frightened us.
Moderate Moslems must preach peace and tolerance if that is to become the way outsiders understand Islam.
We see atrocities happening all the time in the name of Islam - suicide bombings for example. We see film on TV of little children being taught to hate. Help us to understand why? Why do some of your leaders preach such hatred? If we don't see any other position, we assume that's what it means to be a Moslem. If Islam is a religion of peace, please ask your moderate leaders to DO SOMETHING to stop your young men blowing up themselves and others. I understand Palestinian's frustration in Israel, but the Palestinian leaders haven't done a good job, (Schools? hospitals? No, corruption and blaming the Israelis) and you must get back to a dialogue and stop the suicide bombings and hatred.
Peace and love to you, my friend.

People talk about Islaam in a bad way because they follow the stereotypical view and bad things that some of them do. However, the fact that these people say "when terrorists stop doing this or that, and then we'll stop thinking bad of Islaam" is just ignorance. Anyone who has the intelligence and maturity can easily pick up books and the qur'aan to know the truth Islaam.
This requires too much hard work for some people and they choose the easy way out -- to just hate. But remember, Love is greater than fear.

I thought I would answer ur question since u chose to answer mine in reference that "all white women promote sex" when I asked a question about Islam!!!
I have no respect for Muslims whom make a reference to white women as though they are beneath Islamic women- in no way do we promote sex!!!
Also this is a question put forward by one of your fellow Muslims on this site:
"I want to wear my veil. So what if British people think it anti-social or bloody rude, I live in?
Britain in my own small Islamic state and so why should i give a toss about what the rest of the country thinks? Don't people realize that Britain will soon be run by Muslims and we will all have to wear a veil or be punished?"
I am sure that speaks for itself!!!!

Hello nas, do you know the prophecies about al mahdi? If you don't, let me tell you there is nothing predicted except war. There will be muslims who want only peace, and christians who want only peace. God has decided to place generation after generation on earth, and he will place among those generations those who make terror and shed blood. suratalbaqarah aya 30. There will continue to be among the muslimeen those who follow alqutb, who say the lesser jihad is more important than the five pillars, and those shirkyy who say this or that hadith is equal to the hadith of Allah, that is to say the qur'an. There will continue to be in the United States followers of the christian evangelist pat robertson who calls for assassination, and the christian author ann coulter who thirsts for the blood of muslims. You and I can get along and be friends. You and I can agree we should respect each other and not interfere with each other's life. However, there has been placed among our generation those who will make terror and shed blood. I don't know anything for sure, of course, but I can only see war following upon war and more war after that.

I think it's because the only people we see representing Islam is the terrorist/extremist. If all we see in the world is someone saying that they need to destroy America for Islam (message of hate), then people will associate hate with Islam. If we consistantly heard of groups condeming the extremist and their tactics, and saw a peaceful, respectful leader/groups saying they do not represent the majority, then it probably wouldn't be that bad.

Have you seen the News today? We in the UK are a prime target for Islamic terrorists. Its real. I did not make it up!
You are not a terrorist but how can I tell the difference between a fanatical Terrorist and a good British Muslim? (I can't!)
I too hate racism and intolerance but not half as much as I hate those people who wish to hurt innocent British people. They want to kill us all Muslim, Christian and Hindu alike just because we try to live side by side in the UK! I think we should stick together! United against them!
The terrorists want us to explode with hate for each other. UK citizens must strive to prevent them achiving their horrible goal!
Its not easy, this is not a 'normal' war! Some British Muslims are happy to die to spread their hatred Killing other citizens and thinking its an act of God!. How do I know which type you are? Friend or foe? The truth is I do not know!
I do not know as I sit next to you on a tube train if you are a freind or someone who lives in my country and hates it! I can only hope you see yourself as being as British as me! And it frightens me! The veil row is about this fear. In my culture only people who wish to do bad things cover their faces. Think highwaymen, robbers and terrorists!
We are saying show us your human faces. Show us you wish us no harm! Those veils look so scarey to me! I know its a sign of devotion to Allah but in my culture women and men shake hands and respect each other without a need to cover your face. If I went to Saudi I would jolly well cover myself out of respect for the local culture!
The feelings against Muslims is because we are afraid! When people are afraid they lash out to protect themselves! We are afraid what are you going to do? Scream at us some more? Please don't!
