How about getting cramps if you went swimming after you ate.

My mom told me and my siblings that if we did not become Jehovah's Witnesses by February 3, 1962 when Armageddon would be coming then we would be lost forever.

I know now it was just her way of saying the boogey man will get you if ... or santa will only bring you a lump of coal ... but February 3, 1962 came and went but nothing happened. Now she says she doesn't remember saying it.

I never found anything in literature from the Watchtower about that but I sure did find lots of other dates which the Watchtower made prophecies for which didn't happen.

Now I read Deuteronomy 18:20-22 and don't listen to the JWs.

Edit - On a lighter note I think both of my parents told me that if I swallowed my gum my ribs would stick together and mom told me that if I kept on frowning my face would freeze that way.

Wait a minute - isn't the Don't swim after eating or you will get cramps true? I've heard it from a variety of sources even now that I've been an adult for many decades.
