Why is it that when Emeril puts GARLIC in his cooking, the crowd goes biserk and applause like crazy maniacs? I dont get it. And when he says something that's just a tad bit silly, the crowd laughs like he's the funniest man in the world?

The audience is prepped to be enthusiastic, especially at times when he is putting in more risky ingredients, i.e. garlic, his essence spices, etc. I actually think it is kind of cute because it makes the whole process of cooking more special. I do agree though that sometimes they overdo it. I can never get enough of his "bam's" though. My dad looks just like him too...it's funny.

ya know, there's just some things that u don't have to analyze!!
i am a huge fan of Emeril, and this question has been asked of me before. I am not trying to be condescending b/c I can understand that if u did not grow up on Emeril, it may seem a little weird for the first time. And even I will admit that it gets a little out of hand at times. HOWEVER, it's all about soul. Emeril and his cooking just make people happy and they enjoy and get a kick out of being a little silly and cheering him on. it's not supposed to make sense or anything, it's just fun. plus it adds to the effect of the show- makes it invigorating and just fun. if you can't add a little spice and humor every now and then then lifeis just too boring. just try relaxing and enjoying the show- not trying to critique it!

It's because people love him. The garlic thing is just because since Emeril got excited about it, the crowd will to. He's a great chef and knows what's he's doing, but he's a bit of a dork when it comes to the shows.

Garlic, pork fat, any kind of spicy ingredient, or any kind of alcohol is his cooking is Emeril's "gimmick" so to speak. He gets excited about using those particular ingredients, and it has ended up being almost an inside joke. When Emeril uses those particular ingredients, the crowd is bound by an unwritten rule to cheer and go bonkers. It is fun to watch, indeed.

Look at his crowd mostly women over 40 maybe 50 they appeal to this

People like him, and garlic has become one of his signature things to keep the crowd involved. . .makes the show fun to go to.
