Well I am not the only one I'm sure, but why do our legs go numb?

Well if the tingling sensation is of the circulation coming back...then do we realize it when it is cut off? And what happens when it's cut off for long?

When any part of your body goes numb (falls asleep), your body is signaling you that that extremity is not receiving enough oxygen (carried through your blood). In other words, the circulation to that part of your body is being blocked.

The numbness is how your body tells you to shift from your current position.

The tingling sensation you might feel after shifting is your sign that circulation is returning.

I think it's because there is a lack of blood flowing to your leg.
[i.e. when I sit on my leg, I cut off circulation, so it goes numb]

Circulation of the blood supply to the legs has been interfered with, maybe by sitting on the leg.

Sometimes when you sit in a certain position, you are cutting the nerves and blood vessels off from the room they need to properly operate. The tingly feeling when it starts to "wake up" is the blood flowing back in.

Your legs fall sleep when there is a lack of blood flow to the nerves and muscles in your legs.

From what I understand it is lack of blood flow.

It's a pinched nerve, not blood flow
