Yes they will hurt like hell after doing 200 a day. Try not to do ab exercises on consecutive days your muscles need a chance to rest up a bit. No matter how many crunches or sit ups you do if you don't lose the fat around your abs you wont be able to see the six pack. I reccomend running or some form of cardio to lose over all body fat so that those 200 crunches or sit ups don't go to waste. Also try using weights and exercise balls (these are great because not only can you do sit ups on them but you also have to stabalize yourself on them so its like a double workout). Sitting up straight and doing a lot of core exercises are good for the middle as well. Gyms are great cause there are plenty of machines out there as well as great trainers and classes to take.

For a woman, the abdominal muscles are the most alluring part of the male body. They are also known as the six pack abs, when they are clearly outlined. Abs is one of the sexy muscles and represents a fit and healthy male. Women love a man representing health and vitality because it is the natural sign that the man is quite capable of taking care of her and her children.
With the increasing importance of six pack abs, men of different ages spend a lot of time doing leg exercises like crunches, leg raisers and sit ups with a great fervor to get the elusive six pack abs. But this type of abs remains elusive for many. Here are the main reasons why this happens.
The reason why in spite of doing countless abs exercises the six-pack abs remains invisible is due to excess layer of fat covering the tummy. All that you wind up with doing these exercises is increasing the overall size of waist because you are increasing the size of the muscles below the fat. That leads to a broad waist and thick love handles in place of slim waist and rippling abs. What many people do not realize is that the spot reduction does not work. You need to reduce the total body fat and only then will your abs be visible.
The TV or magazine advertisements for reducing your abs by using the various electronic gadgets are quite bunkum. If it was that simple, everyone would have gone around with the stunning six pack. But the truth is, it is not that simple. Fat reduction and emergence of abdominal muscles can be done by consuming a diet that has slightly lesser calories, regular cardio and weight training to develop your muscles that raise your metabolism. This leads to losing weight and eliminating fat by natural ways.
Building muscles is the most important part of the weight loss, since they consume more calories from food for their survival and thus keep away fat forever. Besides, weight training gives you a well-toned body and brings out your abs. Stay away from fad diets and slimming pills. They may yield results in the short term, but in the long run they can cause a lot of harm to your body.
For rippling abdominal muscles, the steps are very simple. Go on a reduced calorie diet, start running and do weight training. Within a short time, your six-pack abs will emerge, making you the envy of all the males.

I'll tell you right now that crunches are worthless.
That reminds me-The otherday I saw this comerical talking about this machine does 70% (give or take) more than crunches Oh its the best ever and more $hit like that.
Doing sit-ups with a single 25lb held with both hands as you "rock" back and forth does the trick. This is no lie-I could do sit-ups all day and not get tired............. On the other hand my weight machine hurts after about 50 5reps.

hello,
i've been on the big side for the bast 13 years of my life, i lost weight.
Now your problem is that if you are doing crunches without losing the fat, the only thing thats going to happen is that you will get a bigger belly. because you will be building muscle without being defined.
Now you are also doing too many crunches, and you shouldnt be doing them everyday, 3 TIMES A WEEK ONLY!! everyother day. You have to let your abdominal muscles rest, otherwise you are just hurting them and they will break down and become smaller. also do not workout more than once a day, that way you are also hurting your abs.
Okay, first lets get to losing weight, i suggest you try a supplement, i reccomend from my own experience,
I lost 30 pounds on Hydroxycut.
I lost 20 pounds on Hydroxycut hardcore.
I lost 20 pounds on Ripped fuel.
(they are all fat burners)
Hydroxycut, you can get anywhere, such as walmart, same with Ripped fuel, as for Hydroxycut hardcore, it is more pricey, but it really is proven to work and you can get it at GNC.
Now to burn fat, you also need to eat healthier, start counting your calories, (go to hydroxycut.com and they have a calorie calculator to determine how much you should be consuming)
Cut your fat intake by 1/2
Most of your calories should come from protien
If you love soda, change to diet, cut down on carbs.
You also need Cardio, try getting a trainer at you local gym, he/she will know how to handle each person, and know their limitations the best, But if a trainer is a no no, then i reccomend you start running (RUNNING, not fast walking or easy jogging) for 30 minutes a day with no more that Five, One minute rests in between. NOW, work out your abs, dont just do crunches, you will never get abs that way, you need to have variation so that your body does not get use to the same movement, doing only crunches will hurt at first, then your body will become use to it and you will no longer be building any abs no matter how many crunches you do.
As for a ab workout here is my reccomendation.
3 sets
rep 1=15 crunches
rep 2=17 crunches
rep 3=15 crunches
THATS IT FOR THEY DAY, rest the next, but still run, (if you are lazy to run everyday then just run everyother day, but results will be slower)
I would strongly reccommend that you seek a professional trainer at your local gym to obtain a personalized diet and exercise plan.
Best of luck,
Allen

You are doing WAY too many sit ups and crunches. You should start out with a small amount of sit-ups.On one day do 10 sit ups,the next day do 15 sit ups,so just add 5 extra sit ups each day.It is a long term project so don't think you'll get a 6 pack any time soon, but you'll eventually get it and look very nice.Don't give up!

trust me the only way you will ever get a six pack is to have low body fat. Look at the people in the army Im around them all the time at FT.hood. They do about a million sit ups a day and some of them dont have six packs for the simple reason that they have naturally higher body fat than a ripped person like myself

Do 50 sit ups a day but hold a weight of about 20kg under your chin with both hands..... if you don't feel that the next morning then well!!!!?? give it about 1 month and you will start to develop a six pack.

You could have mega abs, but if there's a layer of fat in front of them, you won't see them. So lose weight by doing some real exercise. Walking is good. If you work in an office, start drinking LOADS of water. The walks to the fountain and the toilet will take the weight right off.

You also need to do some kind of total body workout that will burn fat like cardio, walking, running, etc. Cut out fats from your diet, too, and the beer belly should start to disappear if you are doing that many sit ups per day!
