You can become Software Tester by doing few things.
1. Take training on Manual Testing Process
2. Learn Testing tool (Winrunner, QTP)
3. Understand that testing is finding defects in software. Hence you need to understand what you are testing, when you are testing and how much test is needed. Also what is is your defect cycle and what is version control, etc.
4. Read books on Software Testing Methodology. There are so many. Each methodology is different from other and no one can say that this is better than this. It all depends on application process that your company adopts.

You mean like Beta Testing?
just look it up on the net. Search for beta testing. Its easy. Finsd a site and sign up.
I have tested several game for major software companies, plus I am a Beta Tester for Intuit(Quickbooks)
Its fun, plus i get free software when its done.

I will Suggest you to select the institute after a demo class, to validate the trainer training.
There are training center where Real time Professionals are training the Students.
