I think it's the same but for different reasons. Christians are touchy because they know that a lot of their religious doctrine is incoherent and contradictory, they want you to over look these things as they do, or they might feel ashamed that they did not see as you do but don't want to look stupid so they cling on to their beliefs as hard as they can, the louder and more robotic they get, the more they they think you will believe them, it's a defense mechanism. For the Atheist I think they get touchy because they are out numbered.

Once agian, it's down to the person. Religious people can be very touchy, the whole "fellowship" thing leads to lots of hugs and handshakes after all, and atheists can be very not touchy, very reserved...and agian they could be just the oppisate. Depends on the person

i think the 'touchiest' group of people are those Catholic priests. they will touch anything under 11 yrs old
