I don't ever recall giving away cats being CRUEL. Unless the law changed? It's not like I'm killing them and dumping them on the side of the road. I am offering them to family, friends, and people that want to love a cat. If that is not possible I am resorting LASTLY to the Humane Society. I really don't want to, because I know they just end up putting them to sleep. That is why I offer them to anyone who is loving. I think it's pretty good because all she needs is the spay and not the shots. And it's pretty cheap here but right now I cannot afford it. If you people would be more open hearted to my situation then you would understand. Being rude and leaving insulting comments that make me look like an animal hater doesn't solve anything. I've have my cat over 1 yr and love her but I rent and rules are RULES. I cannot change that. Maybe if you took the time to ASK before you open your mouths you would know where I'm coming from. Thanks to all that left nice comments.

For your info:
It is illegal to GIVE your cat away. You must charge something.

Sound dumb? Here's why: bad people that "collect" pets for free will sell them to labs, backyard breeders, meat processing plants, etc. in order to make money. Almost in every case of this happening, the pet is killed and usually not legally.

If you really need to find your pet a home, you may give it to a friend or a relative you trust, but if you put out an ad (newspaper, internet) you must charge an "adoption fee" to prevent the rotten people from coming. I would suggest $50 or so - so you can gaurentee a safe home for your pet.

It is not cruel that you must relocated your pet, the mean comments are from people who think that if you have a pet, you have them for life. If you have to move into a les desirable place to keep your pet, you should. You can't give back a baby, you shouldn't "give back" a pet.

However, I do agree. I have 5 pets: 4 cats and a dragon. I have had to make hard choices because I have them. My oldest is 16 yrs old. I have put relationships in jeopardy, missed opportubities of travel, great apartments and personal time and money because I have them. I made a commitment to them when I got them to take care of them for the rest of their lives and I have kept it.

Even though it is hard sometimes...their love makes it soooo worth everything!

I don't judge your reasons to relocate your pet and I don't think you are a bad person for it, but please consider the commitment to your pet before you do anything. Your pet is totally dependant on YOU, you must do what is best for your pet, not simply because it is more convenient.

Good luck.

I hear ya'. A lady gave me 2 cats after she paid to have 2 litters spayed and neutered. You're lucky to actually FIND someone who WANTS one. It's probably because somebody wants the monopoly on cats. Cities are probably trying to get a control on the breeding. People figure why pay $80 at the shelter, when free cats are anywhere. Sad, but then they will say if you can't afford the $80 , you don't deserve to own a cat, and THAT is wrong.

I think you are doing the right thing. Maybe one of your friends may take your cat. Then you can see it and know that its getting good care. Hang in there, there is always someone who wants a loving kitty in their home! But its also fine if you give it to the Humane Society, I think, because they will treat it well and since she's a young cat people are more likely to take her home, am I right? Maybe not.

No, love, it isn't wrong to give cats to loving people. It's sad that you have to give her away, but you are doing the right thing. So many people are so cruel when they don't want an animal anymore. It will be best for the cat and her kittens if you can find them a loving home. Sometimes the RSPCA will rehome cats but if they have too many they don't have any choice but to put them to sleep.

Maybe we would feel better about it if you had actually taken the time and money to get the cat spayed. What is the reason that you had a cat for a year and neglected to get it spayed????? That could be a deciding factor for someone to take her. And the Humane Society would give her a better shot if she was already spayed.

OHHH, I see now. You LET her have kittens and won't spay her because you are "getting rid of her". Maybe that is why people think you are a loser. Because you let her be a kitten machine and now you are getting RID of her.
Why don't YOU pony up the bucks for the spay to give her a better shot???????????????????????????????????

AND IN YOUR FIRST POST YOU SAID YOU WERE GETTING RID OF HER BECAUSE YOU WERE PREGNANT. Wow...a lying loser to boot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gee, which is it???? Moving or just do not want her now with a kid?????? You are sick of her wanting attention after her kittens are gone, so it is time for her to GO. THAT is why people are giving you MEAN answers.
You must know that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

No it is not wrong. And people move and do have to give up their loving animals. Theres nothing wrong with that. What is wrong that most people throw them out and they are homeless with nothing to eat no where to go. She goes from a loving person, like you who took the time out to even find a loving family instead of dumping her somewhere, to another loving family. And believe I rent to and I hate the rules also. I always wanted a cat :(
