Having actually faced this scenario and knowing several other couples in the same boat, an atheist/atheist relationship has a much better chance at working. This is particularly true when it comes to marriage and kids. The conflicts are fairly muted before those points, but if they are not addressed before having an agreement on how the two of you are going to raise the child (Christian or athiest) things get real ugly.

Atheist/atheist relationship. I am agnostic and I have been in relationships with self proclaimed Christians. I hate to say this but when it comes to free thought about religion and spirituality they were all like broken records, same stuff coming out of their mouths, I just got sick of it, it's a real turn off. Not to say that Christians are stupid, but I just find that they are so pompous as to tell me what they believe is true that can not be known. I do not like pompous people.

That would depend far more on their individual personalities than their philosophical or group affiliations, I think. Atheist/Christian relationships are not impossible, despite the silly belief of many superstitious people that spouses shouldn't be "unequally yoked." Marriage requires the cooperation of adults who respect one another and are willing to reasonably compromise when required. And Love is a wondrous force with the power to bridge people worlds apart.

I don't really think there is a clear cut answer. You are taking millions of people with unique personalities and trying to make them fit two sub-categories. It depends a lot on the person, their tolerance levels and the amount of respect they are willing to show the other person in the relationship. That can cross any belief system or no belief at all.

The two atheist because they are more equally yoked. What would a Christian have business hooking up with a non-believer. There's a reason God spoke about being unequally yoked and telling us to "come from among them".

Uh... I don't think an atheist/Christian relationship has a chance in Hell of working. Pun intended!

I don't think you can base the success of a relationship on religion. How committed are the individuals? Do they love and respect each other ? they are things to consider.

Equal chances.

Love is a great mystery, and it transcends all those differences. If there's real love, the relationship works. If not, it falls apart.

Atheist, they know it's up to them to make it work, also they're Far more accepting of human differences.
