Is religion an important aspect in a relationship. I am a Christian and I have been told so many times that a relationship will never be what it can be unless the same beliefs are shared. Religion is a huge part of my life and I really do want to share it with my significant other. I'm just wondering how big of a deal you guys think it is in a relationship.

There needs to be some common ground. If religion is important to you, then I would find a partner who believes likewise. There may be serious issues if you fell in love with an Atheist for example. Especially if you had kids.

Yes chritianity is a very important factor and from a personal experience if you both do not share Jesus in your lives you will never be able to understand how God can take a relationship and make the two of you feel as one. Further more if God controls your life and the world controls the other persons life ther will always be a constant battle fighting off the devil because he will not want Jesus's works in his overcomings. Remember we have a choice but we must only choose one way. We can't have it both ways or try to be nuetral. Good Luck

I feel the same way. I'm a Christian and i always worried that my boyfriend was not saved. We had been together for 3 years and I got him to know Christ about a year into our relationship. I didn't pressure him into it, but I taught him what i knew and because he knew nothing about it he didn't know what to believe in the first place. he now has a strong relationship with Christ although he doesn't attend church he prays and stays faithful. It was a big relief knowing he was saved, and that if anything happened i would see him again someday. Unfortunately we broke up a few weeks ago, things just weren't working out. One thing I'm most glad about is that i brought him to know Christ. Its a great feeling to know I saved someone. Lucky we still talk and are good friends.

I think that two loving people who believe in the same things can have a very spiritual relationship. These days, its hard to find anyone who is not afraid to admit that they are a christian. If it is important to you, hold on to your beliefs and believe that you will be blessed. It is a bid deal.

I think if you are Christian you should be with a Christian. The same with other religions. It makes life easier. Different denominations are OK as long as the beliefs are basically the same.

It is important. I went out with a christian for a while and we both found it too hard. I do not believe and I felt like she was trying to convert me. At first we promised to respect each other's views but it just became too hard. She could no longer tolerate my non-belief and we ended it.
I also felt that she loved god or jesus or whoever more than she did me. I just can't comperhend loving an imaginary person more than someone who is real, tangible.

HUGE. If he is not what you are then he will resent your devotion to God, it[religion] takes the place of him. Instead of you both having the same goal and priority of God first.
It too is possible that you may have a resentment of sorts toward him cause you could not change him.
Besides it does not matter what we think of this issue...go to the ultimate authority: God said, " Be not unequally yolked together." 2 Cor 6:14
This includes love relationships.... [some go so far as to say that it includes business partnerships and friendships and too.....]

Yeah it is very important especially to Christians. Even the Bible says we should be "Equally yoked" It would be difficult to maintain a relationship with a non believer.
