I am nonreligious, and it's perfect the way it is right now, with all sorts of different opinions and viewpoints centered in one place. What is there to gain from dividing everyone up into different sections? There wouldn't be any room for debate, there wouldn't be any opportunity to learn anything new or hear the other side of the argument, and besides, it wouldn't be as fun. Keep it the way it is.
But honestly, you're not going to keep the Christians and non-Christians from going at it, no matter what you do, so Yahoo! shouldn't even bother dividing this place up. But even if you succeeded in doing that, that would be pretty lame. It'd probably be pretty boring being in a section where mostly everyone agrees with everything you say and there's no opportunity to hear other opinions.

I'm an atheist who doesn't often hang out in this category much, so, for what it's worth.
I don't think they should be segregated (and I don't see HOW that could happen, anyway).
I've enjoyed (not lately, as I haven't happened to see any lately) answering sincere questions addressed to atheists, asking about what we believe and don't believe.
The answer, I think, is to use Report Abuse to report all non-questions, hate, and other sludge. I have the impression Yahoo is being better about removing things (from the site as a whole).
It would be nice if people would respect "for Christians only" and "for atheists only" -- though I must admit I've answered "for men only" questions, so who am I to say?
There are reasonable people on both sides, and there are trolls on both sides. If there were a way to enforce that segregation, that would be nice.
But I disagree with segregating believers of different religions and atheists.

Mr. Duchovny,
I was just reported for giving out a recipe for Rib Stew. The question I was answering had to do with talking about anything, and so I gave her an example of anything. It was a great stew by the way! So crap!
I think that these forums need moderators. Yahoo!Answers personel and system are incompetent. They in no way have been handling this creation of theirs responsibly. They penalize the people who are not involved in reporting others, while hatemongers get to have all their hateful fun.
I figure that the environment is not going to be popular. I like the other boards much better because there is actual conversation, and the owner of the board gets to moderate it.
EDIT: You kinow that I am a Christian. And segregation would not fix the problem.

Look, man - I don't think it would matter. Really. The athiests HAVE no religious beliefs supposedly, but they are still here. If there were a forum for Christians, they would be there, too. I am a babe in Christ. That's funny, at 45 yrs. old, huh? I joined with a Holy Ghost filled Pentecostal church 2 1/2 months ago, and I still make mistakes, such as getting mad at the athiests for stirring emotions here, which is what they're here for, I suppose. And the people that post sex - related questions only to try to offend religious folks with their perversion. And mostly the ones that post questions that have nothing to do with R & S. But I guess 28 years of being a redneck roofer keeps trying to slip back on me. I do try.But there are questions posted here that would be better posted on other pages of Y! Answers, but the askers post them here on purpose. Like the gay couple question - there is a page for it. It's put here because that is what they wanted to do. Mostly I look for real questions that are asked in expectation of a real answer. Some are hard to ignore, though.

My 2 cents worth pling pling, Each group should police their own. Most do not like the rude and irrelevant either as an answer or a question. I can not help but notice this question comes the same day as I played the game on. Have to admit seeing the ridiculous rage was kind of amusing. Still I would not repeat it, cuz it is kinda mean. Glad I have not seen your bad side if it is worse than what I have seen. I prefer to respect you. Leather ladies game just bothered me that being disrespectful was a game, so I played it some too, to show it was not cool. I think this place is like kids on a playground there needs to be some sort of friendly force to promote being nice. Sad that our flesh causes all this rude behavior. I doubt it originates from our thinking side cuz it makes no rational sense. Being mean serves no purpose and wrecks its own reward. I am done with being negative amusing or not. I like both you and leather lady so what would be the point. Really Spooket is cooler.

Hell yes! Get these black people their own section!
Oh, you mean religious segregation. No, then what is the point? If you want to learn about a specific religion you can just go to a message board about that religion. I like this mixed religion system. Besides I would just go back and forth between the boards to check on Larry and Las Vegas Steve. And yippy would have to post in all the sections

I think there should be separate sections for different beliefs. Sometimes I have a question for other Christians, and want real answers. Other times, I have enjoyed hearing from people of other beliefs. There is just no way to always keep the maturity level up, but I always appreciate honest answers from respectful people.

Do you mean further categorizing into faiths, atheism, scientific and debating? After reading the replies, it seems that it would lead to more specific questions and answers, but, the chaotic nature of people vs people will still create what happens in the general R&S board. Maybe. It would have to be seen.

Separation/segregation of religion and state means neither has jurisdiction over the other. Meaning neither is allowed to interfere/regulate/control the other.
I am all for this, but it also means one can't ban the other.

Hi Spooky,
Roman Catholic here.
I don't believe that it should be segregated but there should definately be sub-sections for Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Pagans, Agnostic, Athiest, etc.
That might help to cut down on all the complaining, attacking, insulting and back biting that is so wildly rampant here.
Perhaps Yahoo will read this post and agree.
