my ex and i dated for the same amount of time and i thought he was the man i was gonna marry so it was hard on me. it took a few months for me to get over it with the support of friends, but it has been 1 year and a half since and i still get pissed off at him for ruining our relationship. but i just think hey it wasn't mean to be and we weren't compatible. instead of calling it dating, you should just think of it as hanging out with someone new and you should do it right away or whenever you feel comfortable. don't put a timeline on it. unfortunately your ex is probably gonna do the same thing. good luck.

I heard this on the radio from some therapist. For every year you are dating you should have that many months to be single. For every month you are dating you should have that many weeks to be single...I wouldnt start dating until you are comfortable or at least feel as though you have moved on from your ex. Its really about you and how you feel. I dont believe there is an exact amount of time. Just take it day by day =) Hope that helps

When the guy i was dating for 3 years broke up. i thought i was gonna go crazy! and NEVER again find someone for me!... Its took me awhile i didnt want to date anyone or tAlk to any guys at all!.. i gave my self time!(YOU SHOULD DO THE SAME)
3 months later i started dating..(which was still too early) but all i was focused on was gettin over him!!.. (DONT DO THAT) ... does not help.. its actually makes it worse bc the relationships never worked out..and your back to bein sad & depressed.. it actually took me almost 8 months to get over him.. Now im with someone I TRULY LIKE & see myself with for the REST OF MY LIFE!..i still think about him but .. the feelings arent there any longer.. HOPE WHAT I SAID HELPED OUT!!.. TAKE YOUR TIME DONT RUSH!

Take is slow. But only you know when you are ready. If it feels right then go for it. You don't have to start out looking for someone or trying to get involved. Spending some time alone is probably good for you.

Give yourself a little time unless you are mentally stable enough to date again. It took me two years to fully get my ex out of my system. But, we had been involved for three years.

There is no set time before you start over as long as you know it is over and no chance of being together.

I kno I am over my exs when I can honestly look them in the eye and have no feelings of 'i wish we were stilll together' or 'he still looks so cute in that shirt', etc.
