I managed to work few a hell of a lot of issues this week and I have realised that a hell of a lot of my problems with myself have come about because I have sold out time and time again who I am, who I want to be and who I should be because people around me repeartedly force me down the path of least resistance over the correct path for me.
I don't dress how I want to.
I don't eat what or when I want to.
I avoid going to places I like to go.
I don't lead the life I want.
And the worst part is that people want to force me further down this path and NOW I AM SICK OF IT.
NO... I AM F*CKING SICK OF IT.
I am sick of being a pawn and a coward. I am sick of being worth nothing to myself. I am sick of looking forward to running away from everything that would really make me happy because someone else forces on me their opinion of what makes me happy and then is disgusted with me for being miserable.
So... does anyone else feel they betray who they really are to please society?

For example - I once grew my hair long but my parents nagged me to cut it so much I eventually did.
I have always hated my hair, if I think about how much Ib really hate it I feel like burning my scalp to get rid of it.
But when it was long it was fun and nice and for the first time it was MY HAIR. And I loved it. But they nagged and nagged and nagged and nagged like a broken 78 record and I gave in.
I like to dress in bizarre clothes but my friends dress as blandly as possible and repeatedly claim that wearing unusual clothes is just as way of displaying a severe mental health problem so I have to tone down my clothes all the time.
These are two examples of my life in general.

The main thing you need to realise is that you cannot blame other people for your actions. People didn't MAKE you do anything. You chose to make those decisions.
Now I think it's great you want to start being more true to yourself and live your own life. But the first thing we all need to do is realise that our decisions our own. Accept that they are our responsibiilty and no one else is to blame. Then you really will be happy.
Happy because your decisions are owned by you.

Depending on your age, if you are over 18. No should force you to do anything that you do not want to do.
There are ways to stay true to yourself even when you can't I suggest writing in a journal and expressing your feelings.
I have always tried to be who I am, even when it is difficult. I hope you find some peace.

I read your profile ,You are 25 years old .
Who are you blaming for your problems ?Other people ?
If it is because you want to dress outlandish,or you won`t eat certain foods, don`t go where you want to ,or have the life you want .It is YOU stopping yourself .Are you afraid society won`t like you, then don`t do it .If what you want is acceptable and normal ,by all means do it and stop blaming others .
At 25 you should be able to cope with your decisions .

i personally don't but my sister does. she does what is expected and I do what I think is right for me. that is FREQUENTLY not what "society" says is right, but I don't care. my family thinks I am crazy but I would rather be true to myself and different, than conform the way most people do. i am glad you had this self-actualization. now make sure you do something about it. it doesn't matter what other people are doing, it's better to have 1 or 2 friends who are into the same stuff as you and understand you than to have 30 friends who all do it the way they are pressured to do it.

i don't, i live my life the way i want to. i'm the one who has to live with the choices i make whether they ending being right or wrong so why should i do what other people want. you really need to be who you want to be. forget what other people tell you. only you can make you happy.

okay go your own way. hope you have enough money to allow you to dress, eat and go where you want. rest of us must conform and push on.

Welcome to the real world
what you have to keep is that when you close the door and the rest of the world is outside, what is inside is yours and you are who you are
